Joe discovered jazz while in college and immediately changed his major from computer Haymer was born and raised in Los Angeles. He began his classical piano studies at the science to music. Upon hearing that jazz pianist Kenny Barron was teaching at Rutgers Uni- age of seven and was introduced to jazz piano at the age of 14. Swartz, Munyungo Jackson, Bobby Rodriguez Hamilton Price, Dan Schnelle, and Barbara Morrison. Arnay began his career in Ithaca, New York where he attended college during the late ‘70s. In that enlightened upstate environment, he got involved with vibrant local music. After moving to Pasadena in the late ‘80s, Arnay soon became connected in the Los Angeles jazz world. He recorded and composed, Daddy’s Groove (1997). Blues...and Then Some (2003), a trio project with drummer Dave Tull and bassist Larry Steen.
