Hillenburg graduated from the California Institute of the Arts with a master's degree in experimental animation and studied marine biology and art as an undergraduate. Paul Tibbitt served as a director and writer on SpongeBob SquarePants for its first three seasons and is currently executive producer. He wrote some of the show's most memorable episodes such as "Ripped Pants" and "Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy." Tibbitt was one of the co-writers and storyboard artists on The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. You don't have to be a fan of the show or know the characters to enjoy this witty holiday CD. And, both parents and children will enjoy listening to this CD together, which usually isn't the case with children's CDs. It is hard to find a CD that my husband will muster and listen to with the girls, but after listening to it last night, I caught him singing, "Don't be a Jerk (It's Christmas)" this AM when he was making his coffee. When I asked what he was singing, he quickly brushed it off. But, I told him I heard him, and he just laughed. "Come on," he said, "It is a catchy song, and fun to sing." The only negative thing that I can think of in regards to this new CD release is that it is only available digitally. I would love to be able to purchase a hard copy and share with a few family members and friends who love this show and/or love witty Christmas songs. Maybe eventually this CD will be released in stores. But, in the meantime, I will be enjoying the digital tracks, and my living room hoedown with my daughter. Yee hah!! One of the collectible garage/frat records of the ’60s. Recorded by a group of college students in Massachusetts, this album features covers of Love’s “Message To Pretty,” the Remains’ “Don’t Look Back” and Wilson Pickett’s standby, “In The Midnight Hour.” The group got together a few years back for a reunion and recorded another album. Well . almost. First, the title was just Calm Before. Second, the year was 1967. Third, that 500- buck tag sounds reasonable, although an Italian collector recently paid $1,300 for an unopened copy. [Editor’s note: All prices in the article quoted were based on near mint quality, not mint -- i.e., unopened -- and were compiled from 1989 sales figures.] Fourth, the Storm did covers, but there were also five originals on the album.

In order to achieve this aim three component factors derived from the intersection of the scholarly humour, creativity, and play literature––frame of mind, flow, and playfulness (PF)––have informed a single unifying theme I call the “playful frame of mind.” Contemporary popular music makers live in an era where an over-abundance of affordable technological aids (along with the distribution capabilities of the internet) have created a glut of creative possibilities, and along with it an ever-present risk of cognitive dissonance caused by their “noise.” Such technology brings creative options to all and sundry once reserved for a few rock star elite signed to multinational record companies.
