DJ CAESAR from TOKYO AKIHABARA A DJ who cosplays while performing, DJ CAESAR is known for his fresh innovative mixes which incorporate anisong and vocaloid tracks. Popular with his youthful audience, DJ CAESAR also performed at the Japan Expo in France, which gathered over 260 thousand attendees. Being the only anisong DJ to break the 13 thousand mark for twitter followers, DJ CAESAR is an influencer whose name is known throughout the fandom. Currently the only overall sound producer for break-out idol group BABYMETAL, he has dabbled in many different fields, including being a DJ, collaborations with voice actor, being a vocalist in a hardcore emo band and making songs for idol groups, garnering him respect from all levels in the industry. ARSMAGNA As part of cosplay group Chronos Senior High School, ARSMAGNA is a 2.5D cosplay dance group. Made up of first to third year students from Chronos Senior High School and a plushie, the group is known as “5 guys and a plushie”. .PCF Having played on the biggest stage meant for 14,000 in France’s Japan Expo, .PCF is a party rock group that has propelled themselves to world stardom through their uploads on the Internet. With a myriad of talents in the group, .PCF has managed to showcase many different genres of entertainment, including dancing and DJing. Users were placed in the role of the producer and given the opportunity to produce their chosen idol to stardom. With a large, varied cast and a plethora of accompanying music, the game garnered great support, and in 2015, THE IDOLM@STER will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Since then, the franchise has expanded from a console game into various other media such as comics, radio, a televised anime series and live events. ◆THE IDOLM@STER Game The starting point of THE IDOLM@STER is the “idol producing game”. At its core, THE IDOLM@STER is an idol producing game. The player, in the role of the producer, experiences both the highs and lows of the job together with the idol under his charge. One of the defining points of the game is the sense of accomplishment the producer feels when his idol, after much effort, finally achieves her dream of becoming a top idol. Although simply known as “production”, this encompasses a wide umbrella of different gameplay activities that attract different types of players, such as rhythm games and live contest battles. Besides this, there are also many different idols, each with a different personality. While the 13 idols from 765 Production continue to be the main axis, the universe has also been expanded with the addition of “THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS” and “THE IDOLM@STER MILLION LIVE!” and the respective idols from these series based on these mobile social games. In May this year, the new console game “THE IDOLM@STER ONE FOR ALL” was released. 765 Production, together with the new series that shares the same universe, “THE IDOLM@STER MILLION LIVE!”, welcomes its 10th anniversary, and continues to expand the world of THE IDOLM@STER even further. ◆THE IDOLM@STER Anime In 2011, a 25-episode TV anime reproduced the game’s universe, which was further complemented with a continuation in the form of the movie “THE IDOLM@STER MOVIE: To the other side of the sparkle!” in January 2014. Coming in January 2015, a new anime based on “THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS” will begin airing. The anime focuses on the characters of the idols, fleshing out their personalities and bringing them closer to the viewer, making the anime a must-watch. ◆THE IDOLM@STER Live The idols and their songs are brought to life by their respective voice actresses, who become the idols themselves when they perform at live events, allowing them to meet not just producers across Japan, but all over the world at the same time. The live events have been held annually since its first live in 2006. In recent years, together with the separate CINDERELLA GIRLS and MILLION LIVE! universes, multiple events have been held annually. In 2013, the 8th anniversary live at Saitama Super Arena attracted it’s largest ever crowd of 35000, bringing excitement to its highest. Sci. & Tech. 34, 3 (2013) #2013 The Acoustical Society of Japan PAPER A multi-dimensional study of the emotion in current Japanese popular music Ryo Yonedaà and Masashi Yamada Graduate School of Engineering, Kanazawa Institute of Technology, 7–1 Ohgigaoka, Nonoich, 921–8501 Japan ( Received 22 March 2012, Accepted for publication 5 September 2012 ) Abstract: Musical psychologists illustrated musical emotion with various numbers of dimensions ranging from two to eight. Most of them concentrated on classical music. Only a few researchers studied emotion in popular music, but the number of pieces they used was very small. In the present study, perceptual experiments were conducted using large sets of popular pieces. In Experiment 1, ten listeners rated musical emotion for 50 J-POP pieces using 17 SD scales. The results of factor analysis showed that the emotional space was constructed by three factors, ‘‘evaluation,’’ ‘‘potency’’ and ‘‘activity.’’ In Experiment 2, three musicians and eight non-musicians rated musical emotion for 169 popular pieces. The set of pieces included not only J-POP tunes but also Enka and western popular tunes. The listeners also rated the suitability for several listening situations. The results of factor analysis showed that the emotional space for the 169 pieces was spanned by the three factors, ‘‘evaluation,’’ ‘‘potency’’ and ‘‘activity,’’ again. The results of multiple-regression analyses suggested that the listeners like to listen to a ‘‘beautiful’’ tune with their lovers and a ‘‘powerful’’ and ‘‘active’’ tune in a situation where people were around them. All you Dhave to do is volunteer! You can choose any one of the many jobs that are key to keeping the convention running. All of the hard work that is put in by the volunteers goes directly toward supporting the event and never toward paying a wage to anyone in the corporation; Sakura-Con is a federal 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. General requirements for all volunteer staff: • Must be at least 16 years old (if you are a minor, you must still have an adult chaperon attend with you). Some positions do require you to be 18, such as those which handle money. • You must agree to volunteer a minimum of 16 hours for the convention. • You must abide by all ANCEA/Sakura-Con bylaws and polices. • You must be responsible and show up for all required meetings and shifts as scheduled by your coordinator, manager or director. • NOTE that for most staffing positions you are required to be on site during the convention. • Volunteer Staffers receive a Staff Membership Badge and Staff T-Shirt for the Convention and priority seating at events. SANTA MONICA, CA (November 16, 2018) –Aniplex of America has revealed the English dub cast of the smash hit newcomer to Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online universe, Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online. The announcement at the Aniplex of America industry panel included news that both the subtitled and English dub version of the show will be available on Hulu and Netflix. Based on the original work by self-proclaimed military and gun fanatic Keiichi Sigsawa, author of Kino’s Journey and gun consultant for Sword Art Online II, the series, hereafter referred to as GGO, premiered in April of 2018 with Japanese voice cast members Tomori Kusunoki (Slow Start, Marchen Madchen), Yoko Hikasa (The irregular at magic high school THE MOVIE –The Girl Who Summons the Stars-, WAGNARIA!!), Kazuyuki Okitsu (Nanana’s Buried Treasure, Charlotte), and Chinatsu Akasaki (Fate/Apocrypha, ERASED). The English cast features the series’ main character LLENN voiced by Reba Buhr (The Asterisk War, Violet Evergarden), Allegra Clark (Fate/Apocrypha, GRANDBLUE FANTASY The Animation) as Pitohui, Ray Chase (March comes in like lion, anohana -The Flower We Saw That Day-) as M, and Faye Mata (Fate/Apocrypha, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable) playing the lovable best friend, Fukaziroh.
