BOA Paper 14/2017 (For information on 24.11.2017) Updates on Programmes for November – December 2017 A. Radio No. Date Items 1. 1 November 2017 – CIBS promotion of round 11, with the theme of Social Service and Arts & Culture, started in November. It includes 3 January 2018 pop-up exhibitions, a promotion truck visiting various locations, an outreach with representatives from ethnic minorities performing and CIBS Consultation Day. 2. 1 November R1 conducted the “Road Safety Campaign” (道路安全第一日)with the co-organizer Road Safety Council to promote the importance of road safety. 3. 5 November R1 organized the “Healthpedia Mobile Television”(精靈一點流動電視廳)to promote the newly launched Radio on TV version of the programme. 4. 7 November R2 produced “Albert Au Mini Concert”(Albert Au 區瑞強 真摯‧回憶) in early November to share with the audience the precious moments of his music and broadcasting journey in the past 40 years. 5. 11 / 25 November PTC continued to conduct the “Inter-collegiate Putonghua Debate Competition” (大專普通話辯論賽 2017). A total of 11 colleges took part in the event and the final will be held on 25 November. 6. November - Operation Santa Claus (OSC), co-organized by R3 and SCMP, would reach its 30th anniversary this year. A series December of activities would be conducted, including: 1) Opening Ceremony held on 13 November; 2) Introductory Workshop for Operation Santa Claus’s Fun4Funds Challenge on 24 November; 3) Live Concert from Ned Kelly’s Last Stand Bar on 9 December; 4) Five-A-Side Football Tournament and Radio 3 Fair on 10 December. 7. 15 November R5, co-organized with MTR, launched “MTR Elderly’s Safety Campaign” (長者港鐵安全運動 2017) to promote safety of elderlies when taking MTR. 8. 20 November Co-organized with “Youth Employment and Training Programme” (YETP), R5 launched the YETP Award Ceremony (展翅青見夢飛行頒獎禮)in November to showcase the most improved trainees of the programme. 1 No. Date Items 9. 21 November / The preliminary selection of RD&CEU’s “Audio Book Best Voice Competition 2018” was concluded with a 8 December significant total of 589 participants. A press conference was arranged in November to announce the 10 finalists. A workshop on presentation skills will be provided for the finalists in early December. 10. 25 November R5 will help organize the High Table Dinner event for the elderly to be held at the Hong Kong University. A seminar will be arranged in the afternoon to teach the elderly about table manners, followed by a formal dinner at night. 11. 6 December / RTHK will participate in the gala event “Brands & Products Expo”, with a press conference and two shows held in 19, 22 December December. 12. 11 – 24 December PAU will launch the voting of “Sound Files 2017”(聲音檔案選舉 2017)for the public to vote for the most remarkable sound bites of the year. 13. 17 December / 4 “Gold Songs Talk”(金曲四十-大講堂)(4 episodes) will invite celebrities to go to different universities to share their January 2018 views on Hong Kong pop music with the new generation. Both radio and TV versions will be arranged for broadcast starting from December. The “40th Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award Presentation Ceremony” will be held at the Hong Kong Design Institute on 17 December to announce the results. For the commemorative concert “Gold Songs 40 You and Me”, it will be held in the Star Hall on 4 January 2018. 14. 24 December R4 will produce the traditional festive show “Christmas Concert in the Park: On the Beat – A March and Dance Gala” (聖誕園林音樂會 2017: 聖誕節奏魅力 – 進行曲與舞曲音樂會) at Kowloon Park Piazza on Christmas Eve. A Soloist from Young Music Makers, Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia and the Learners’ Chorus will perform. The Concert will also be live broadcast on RTHK TV31’s “Arts on Air(演藝盛薈)”. 15. 25 – 31 December A series of year enders, such as Best of Backchat and Person of the Year, Top Ten Music Headlines 2017 and News on the Elderly, and etc., will be produced by different sections and units. 2 B. TV Programmes No. Date Items 1. 7 November “The Cruel War”(戰火無情)(15 episodes x 60’) is a documentary series exploring the European war, the Pacific War of WWII and the Chosin War through the film archives and the testimony of more than fifty eyewitnesses to the wars. 2. 10 & 11 November “Berliner Philharmoniker”(柏林愛樂樂團音樂會)(2 episodes x 90’) featured 2 concerts performed by the world renowned Berliner Philharmoniker in Hong Kong. 3. 18 November “Hong Kong Stories-Fix the rifts”(香港故事-修復時刻)(10 episodes x 30’) showed cases that by fixing the rifts of object, culture, architecture, it also helped bridge the gap between human relationship. 4. 18 November “Front and Centre: James Blunt”(上尉詩人 James Blunt)(1 episode x 60’) featured the singer-songwriter who was five-time Grammy nominee. 5. 18 November, Live coverage of badminton and volleyball competitions was scheduled to broadcast on TV 32. 2, 10 & 16 December 6. 19 November “Below The Lion Rock 2017”(獅子山下 2017)(8 episodes x 60’) covered social issues which Hong Kong people cared about and demonstrated the Lion Rock spirit in nowadays Hong Kong. 7. 19 November Based on the radio programme “Music Lover”, the host of “Gold Songs 40 Music Lovers”(金曲四十-音樂情人)(4 episodes x 60’), Timothy Cheng invited various singers to perform and share their emotional moments. The theme of the series was friendship, romance, family love and self-love. 8. 20 November “Revolution School”(學校改造工程)(4 episodes x 60’) was an inspiring series about students & teachers trying hard to pull their school from its bottom ranking and make it better. It was filmed in a large school with more than 1,100 students from 42 different nationalities. 9. 23 November “China, Land of Colors”(四色中國)(4 episodes x 60’) discovered different aspects in China. In each episode, a one-colour theme is used to showcase the landscapes, monuments, and cultural aspects such as costumes, decoration, objects and building materials. 10. 2 December “68th Hong Kong School Speech Festival”(第 68 屆學校朗誦節優勝者匯演)” (2 episodes x 60’) will showcase the highlights of the Prize-Winners’ Recitals of the Speech Festival from the secondary and primary schools. 11. 3 December “Young Film Maker II”(影動青春 II)(10 episodes x 60’) will showcase the award-winning films produced by young people. By appreciating the content and presentation skills of these films, the audience will have a better understand of the young generation. 3 No. Date Items 12. 9 December “69th Hong Kong School Music Festival”(第 69 屆學校音樂節優勝者匯演)(8 episodes x 60’) will showcase the highlights of the Prize-Winners’ Concerts of the Music Festival. The participants are secondary, primary school and kindergarten students, performing different Chinese and western music including Cantonese opera. 13. 9 December “Doctor and You(” 醫生與你)(15 episodes x 30’) will share with audience health knowledge and explore how to deal with different kinds of symptoms. November Special online WEB+ projects, including “中華文化頻道”(Chinese Culture) and “精選廣播劇”(Classics Radio Drama), were revamped to enhance content navigation and design accessibility on latest browsers. 2. 11 – 20 November Online polling of “The 40th Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs”(第四十屆中大中文金曲)was launched and public could listen to the audio clips of the nominated songs on the web before casting their votes. 3. 13 November A special webpage of “RTHK Programme Advisory Panel Meeting 2017”(香港電台節目顧問團會議 2017)was launched, providing related information and video archive of the Meeting. 4. 13 November “Operation Santa Claus 2017”(愛心聖誕大行動 2017)special webpage was launched on rthk.hk, with donation appeals for this annual charity campaign. Details about the beneficiaries and this year’s fund raising events are posted online. 5. 24 November The special webpage of “Christmas Concert in the Park 2017”(聖誕園林音樂會 2017)will be launched, providing public with information of this festive concert event. 6 December Live webcast of Radio 6 (relay of CNR) will be added on rthk.hk and mobile apps “RTHK On The Go” and “RTHK Mine”. 6. 11- 26 December “Sound Files Polling 2017”(2017 聲音檔案選舉) will be kick-started for public to vote for the most impressive news sound files of the year. 7. 24 December – Online polling of “Top 10 Music Headlines 2017”(2017 十大樂聞齊齊選)will be launched. Music lovers can 12 January vote for their choice of top music headlines in 2017. 8. Mid December “The 11th Hong Kong Book Prize”(第十一屆香港書獎)will begin its first phase of the campaign in December, calling for online nomination of the books. Radio Television Hong Kong November 2017 4 .
