Page 2 Updated: 02.14.2017 Welcome to Outlook 365 This Welcome Guide will help guide you through the necessary first steps on your desktop and in your browser to reconfigure a few settings and begin using email and Outlook in Office 365. At this time, support is provided for Outlook activities including email, , contants, and tasks. What is Office 365? In a nutshell, Office 365 is a collection of apps and cloud services that you can use to be productive across a variety of devices from just about anywhere. For now, we are just rolling out the Outlook 365 e- application. What is “the cloud?” The cloud is a friendly way of describing web-based computing services. Because this infrastructure is located online or “in the cloud,” you can access it virtually anywhere, from a PC, tablet, smartphone, or other device with an Internet connection. What if I need help? First Day…First Steps Please complete these necessary first steps to begin using Outlook in Office 365. On Your Desktop IMPORTANT NOTE: Technology Services will no longer support Mac Mail or Entourage, so you must use the Outlook client. If you already use the Windows or Mac Outlook client, then you will experience no change. Outlook 1. Launch Outlook. 2. (first-time only) If prompted, quit and restart Outlook. 3. (first-time only) If prompted, enter your entire email address i.e. [email protected] and be sure to save your password. 4. Confirm/Create your signature: a. Click File tab | Options b. Click Mail c. Click Signatures… button See Support article: Create and add a signature to messages

Page 3 Updated: 02.14.2017 In a Web Browser IMPORTANT NOTE: Technology Services recommends using the Outlook client while onsite, but you can use Outlook on the Web, if you prefer this feature-rich environment and interface. Login to Office 365 1. Launch a browser (e.g. , , Chrome, ). 2. Navigate to login.microsoftonline.com or portal.office365.com. HINT: Add to your browser favorites or save as bookmark for easy access. TIP: You can still access your e-mail through the following standard channels: • https://portal.sanjuan.edu (go to Employee Email tile  Office 365 Email – Migrated) • http://www.sanjuan.edu/ (go to STAFF tab  San Juan Office 365 Email)

IMPORTANT NOTE: After your mailbox has been migrated to Office 365, if you navigate to webmail.sanjuan.edu/owa, you will receive an error message: “Outlook Web Access could not find a mailbox for …”

3. Enter your email address and password. 4. Click Sign in. 5. Navigate to the Mail or Calendar (or Contacts or Tasks) app using the app launcher or Home Page tile. (See below.)
