Michigan State University Currents CITY OF SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN – TRAFFIC IMPACT STUDY (1995) Magazine (Winter 2008) Transportation Engineer – Evaluated the traffic impact of a proposed 116,222 square foot Target store in Southfield, Michigan. Estimated the amount of traffic that would be generated by the store. A peak hour capacity analysis was completed at each of the ten The Detroit Free Press (10) signalized intersections in the project influence area for both weekdays and (December 2008) weekends. Also compared the anticipated trips from the current office buildings and examined the daily variation versus the proposed retail store traffic. The Essence Magazine analysis validated trip generation rates, assigned trips to the road network, determined (February 2005) geometric design adequacy, driveway placement and recommended the best method of whether or not to close the road in question. CITY OF SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN – FRANKLIN ROAD/I-696 INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENT STUDY (1994-1995) Jet Magazine (April 1999) Subconsultant - Utilized the TRAF-NETSIM traffic modeling software to demonstrate that an interchange in an urban environment can be converted from a partial to a full interchange with all movements permitted. Displayed the measures of effectiveness and traffic flow characteristics for the “after” construction condition of this project. A detailed report was prepared which evaluated the existing site conditions, existing traffic volumes with proposed local road improvements, and local road improvements with the completion of the Franklin Road Interchange using projected year 2015 traffic volumes.

THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN (U of M)TRANSPORATION RESEARCH INSTITUTE– GREAT LAKES CENTER FOR TRUCK AND TRANSIT RESEARCH (1994-1995)

Research Analyst - Researcher for the U of M Great Lakes Center for Truck and Transit Research (GLCTTR). Conducted project research which consisted of a study of High Speed Rail Safety Warrants and the analysis of changes and/or modifications needed for grade crossings on existing rail lines when high speed rail service is introduced. The economic and crossing volume analysis based upon various warrant categories provided useful information for evaluating decisions such as closing a crossing and redirecting existing traffic. Analysis allowed for determination of the economic impact of constructing a grade separation based upon the required rail crossing protection.

MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (MDOT) (1993-1994) Transportation Engineer – Performed work for the Early Deployment of ATMS/ATIS in Metropolitan Detroit for MDOT as a subcontractor. Performed analysis in the areas of priority corridor recommendation and the development of an Incident Management Plan. Examined thirteen (13) corridors for possible expansion of advanced traffic management systems on freeway segments in Metropolitan Detroit. Convened meetings with the Administrative Traffic Management Team for the I-75 corridor and developed goals, objectives and a consensus on alternate routes by this group.

MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT TRANSPORTATION AND THE ROAD COMMISSION FOR OAKLAND COUNTY (1984-1988) Assistant Design Unit Leader - Assisted in supervising and training engineers and technicians in project design, writing specifications, project estimates, and reviewing project proposals for the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Road Commission for Oakland County.
