Take your time when you are investing in new lighting facilities. Light should be bought with care. At Louis Poulsen we work with a lighting philosophy encompassing function, comfort and ambience. We combine professional lighting technology with aesthetic designs to create optimum and comfortable lighting. We make demands on ourselves – read more about these demands here. 3 Light should seem natural Daylight is considered to be the best and most genuine light. We use daylight to experience the world. Artifi cial lighting can only compensate for daylight, but we can achieve a good resemblance. Designers can derive inspiration from nature to complete their idiom. In her Collage series, Louise Campbell was inspired by how light refracts in tree foliage. The elliptical patterns simulate nature’s unique patterns. Collage fi xtures are like small light spots in our homes, where we can cocoon, while the world passes by. 5 Collage Louise Campbell found inspiration in nature’s own light source when she created Collage. The idea arose out of the image of sun rays finding their way through tree foliage, leaving a shimmering trace of light and shadow. The three shades of differing, cut patterns form the delicate effect, where light and shadow comes to life, constantly changing. The Collage series includes both a pendant and a floor lamp. It is a practical device, but should at the same time be decorative and pure. Fixtures should delight the eye – whether lit or unlit. Arne Jacobsen’s design is highly praised among the world’s architects because of it’s precise idiom. It is simple, beautiful and extremely minimalist. 11 AJ Floor, Table & Wall Arne Jacobsen created the lighting fix- tures for the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen – one of the first design hotels in the world. AJ was not only the architect of the building; he also designed all fixtures and fittings, e.g. furniture, cutlery, textiles and lighting fixtures. All these products have become modern classics. The AJ series focuses light where it is needed and the shades provide efficient shading. Design: Arne Jacobsen. AJ Floor. Light source: 60W A60 Frosted E27. This is where we relax and recharge our batteries, so that we are ready for more experiences and challenges. Home lighting aff ects us more than most of us realise. In correct lighting, we relax and our eyes get a break. Of course, lighting must be correct. When at Louis Poulsen we create new fi xtures, we always strive to uphold the balance between function, comfort and ambience. We aim to create products that will enhance your breaks – such as the transparent Flindt series. 19 Flindt Pendant The Flindt series combines simple geometry with a high degree of visual complexity. The dual shades encompass a cylinder and a truncated cone, both weaved in white, matt vinyl string. The weaving technique fashions a three-dimensional, transparent idiom and patterns interchange when viewed from different angles. Design: Christian Flindt. Flindt 220/475 Pendant. Christian Flindt’s ideas have been described as so innovative and visionary that they are almost art. Light should fascinate Poul Henningsen is the master lighting designer. He created functional and idiomatic designs that went on to gain acceptance and be celebrated all over the world. PH Artichoke is one of Poul Henningsen’s icons, the breathtaking fi xture emanating charisma and splendour. Whether in white, brushed steel or copper, PH Artichoke makes a statement in any room. PH Artichoke serves as an excellent example of what Louis Poulsen strives to achieve: creating fi xtures you never tire of. 25 PH Artichoke PH Artichoke is unique and has – deservedly – achieved status as a design icon. In addition to being a master lighting designer, he also wrote satirical songs and castigated society in general, in the 1930s becoming one of the frontrunners of cultural radicalism. His life-long partnership with Louis Poulsen started as early as 1925. 29 30 PH Snowball PH Snowball Design: Poul Henningsen. PH Snowball. Light source: 300W A80 Clear E27.
