Zones, Depending on How Far You’Re Going
Tickets and travel cards in the Greater Copenhagen region When you’re a tourist, you can choose between different forms of tickets and travel cards which are all valid for both buses, trains and Metro in the Greater Copenhagen region. Your choice depends on how much and how you choose to move around during your stay. Single tickets You can buy single tickets that are valid for a stated time period and a specific number of zones, depending on how far you’re going. Single tickets are the obvious choice, if you prefer mainly to walk around town and sometimes choose to take a bus. Discount cards (Danish: Klippekort) If you plan on taking the bus, train or metro several times during your stay, it’s cheaper to use a discount card than buying single tickets. Discount cards are available for 10 journeys within two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight or all zones. If, for instance, you buy a discount card for two zones, you have to punch the number of times corresponding to the number of zones you’ll be travelling through. You can see the number of zones on the special zone maps at stations and bus stops. An example is given in the attachment of this document. On the back of the discount card, you can see how long the clip is valid. Several people can travel together on a discount card. This makes the discount card the obvious choice for a group of people who want a flexible solution when moving around town. 24‐hour ticket The 24‐hour ticket offers you 24 hours of unlimited travel by bus, train and Metro throughout all the zones of the Greater Copenhagen region. -

Orlinokowski, Geoff Walsham (editors) Information Technology and Changes in Organizational Work, Chapman and Hall, London, pp.295-307 paper prepared for the december Cambridge '95 Conference - IT and Changes in Organizational Work English uncorrected Abstract This paper is a meditation written by an ignorant trying to understand what has changed in his field, social theory, because of the development of information technology and because of the analysis of sociologists, specialists of labor relations, of organizations, of situated cognition, etc. It starts with a simple example of ppractice and tries to analyze it by following new concepts which seems to derive from the redistribution of humans and non-humans due to the pervasiveness of computerized work sites. It then tries to list the services rendered to social theory by the studies made by much more knowledgeable colleagues. Finally, it tries to show, with a very clumsy vocabulary, how we could account in better terms than networks, for a social theory redistributed by information technology and its students. Prologue “Let us meet at 12-30 at the Eurotunnel Gate at Waterloo Station”, I had told Adam on the phone from Paris. “Allright; I will be there”, he had said, approving this quasi contract with the telephonic equivalent of a hand shake or of a signature. I could have asked him to send a confirmation fax to make doubly sure that we had agreed on the same information in spite of the one hour lag that England insists on having over the Continent (to feel closer, I guess, from the United States). -

Munroe Copyright by Delphine Ancien 2008 ABSTRACT Since the 1980s the greater London area has been home to an increasingly large proportion of the British population, economic activities and profits; its population growth has been quite phenomenal. Many observers over the past few years have been warning that this growth threatens to be self-inhibiting. This has to do with London’s escalating housing costs. Housing shortages in turn tend to create labor shortages in low- skilled low-paying jobs as much as for middle-and-higher-income positions. This problem is quite common in large economically-booming cities, and even more so in what have been identified as ‘world’ or ‘global cities’, such New York City, Tokyo, and London. These cities are characterized, in particular, by their concentration of command and control functions of the world economy, and especially global financial functions. These have become a crucial aspect of capitalism in an era of increased globalization and financialization of capital. However, although the world city and global city literatures appear as a very important departure point for analyzing London’s housing crisis and, crucially from the standpoint of this dissertation, the ways different agents and coalitions of actors have been approaching this issue, I argue that it is necessary to go beyond the rather standard world/global city accounts that have ensued. -
