Call to The regular meeting of the Sussex County Council was held Order on Tuesday, May 23, 1972, at 10:00 a.m., with the follow­ ing members present:

Leonard The Sheriff will serve a letter to Lenard Drummond, Con­ Drummond stable for Sussex County, notifying him he is suspended from all rights, duties, and privileges in this capacity. Criminal charges have been filed against Mr. Drummond and a full investigation will be made.

Mr. Sherwin Mr. Sherwin, Civil Defense Director reported he attended an Air.force Disaster Seminar in Dover on May 22, at the Kent County E.O.C. in regards to what emergency proceedures v to follow i.f a plain crashes which is armed or unarmed.

Swan Keys James Sabo, Esquire appeared before the Council on behalf of his client in regards to a trailer park kn0wn as Swan Keys. The developers o.f this trailer park would like to install a central sewage system. The Council suggested that Mr. Sabo work out an agreement with Mr. Henry, County Engineer and prepare a contract between the County and Swan Keys whereby at a later date the system could be taken over by the County subject to technical approval.

M 163 72 Motion by Mr. Briggs, seconded by Mr. Chandler, unanimously Civil carried to concur with the following: Defense Employees In accordance with House Bill 677, dated May 1972, as amended by House amendment # 1, the following salaries, Civil Defense employees, will be effective: June 1, 1972 July 1, 1972 Vivian Adams $4,963.00 Mabel Givens 6,992.00 $7,353.00 Walt Sherwin 9,437.00 9,916.00

Richard Clark of the King Acres area appeared before the Council in regards to weeds on vacant lots in this area which need to be cut. Mr. Lee said the County has no authority to enforce such an issue and suggested Mr. Clar~ consult an attorney to see if there is a state code that covers this problem.

M 164 72 Motion by Mr. Chandler, seconded by Mr. Briggs, unanimously Certi.fica te '­ carried to extend the $150,000.00 Certificate of Deposit, o.f Deposit Wilmington Trust Company, until June 27, 1972 at an interest , rate of 4~ % and to reinvest $100,000.00 from the General Fund account Wilmington Trust Company for one year at 5~ %. Land.fills Landfills # 3 and # 6 will be opened on Monday, May 29, #3 & #6 from 8 a.m. untill 5 p.m. for the benefit of the beach areas. All other landfills will be closed all day Monday ' but will reppen at 8 ~.m. Tuesday.

M 165 72 Motion by Mr. Chandler, seconded by Mr. Briggs, unanimously Landfill carried to renew the contract of Landfill # 4, Anderson #4 Crossroads, with Paynter Sharp for the sum of $30,917.00. for a periodof one year.

Action was deferred on this application by the Planning a nd Zoning Commission, therefore, the Council will reserve decision on this application until a decision is reached by the Commission.
