LAS VEGAS (June 2016) – During this year’s IPW in New Orleans, be sure to find out what is next for Las Vegas' most exciting transportation option, the Las Vegas Monorail. At IPW booth No. 2668, Monorail executives will be available to discuss how this low-cost, high-efficiency transportation option featuring zero-emissions trains provides leisure and business visitors the best access to the city's newest Strip developments, as well as plans for the system’s future. The Monorail’s climate-controlled trains and direct access to 26,000 rooms along its 3.9- mile (6.4-kilometer) route make it indispensable for visitors seeking to navigate the Strip comfortably and affordably. With a one-day, unlimited-ride pass costing just $12, there is simply no better or flexible transportation option. Visitors can create an entire Las Vegas Monorail itinerary along the route that will deliver them directly to some of the destination’s most exciting hotel-, shops, restaurants and attractions. For example:

Start the day at the Monorail’s northernmost station at the SLS Las Vegas, formerly the historic Sahara Hotel & where the Rat Pack themselves performed. Start your adventure with quick cappuccino and croissant at the The Perq coffee shop or more substantial fare at the Northside Café. Check out this fully reinvented hotel and consider coming back for dinner at Jose Andres’ acclaimed Bazaar Meat or a night out at Foxtail, a distinctive open-air nightclub.

At the next station, visit the Resort & Casino, where famously performed when the hotel was known as the International Hotel. Today, it is home to the famous Super Book sports book, which has the world’s largest LED screen and 25,000 square feet of sports betting action.

Convention and tradeshow visitors will appreciate the ease of traveling to the Monorail’s next destination—the Las Vegas Convention Center. In fact, savvy show planners build Monorail fares directly into the cost of convention registration, meaning their attendees need just show their badge to have the run of the entire 3.9-mile Monorail route.

The fourth Monorail station on the journey provides optimal access to Promenade and the High Roller, the world’s largest observation wheel at 550 feet tall. From noon to 2 a.m., purchase a Happy Half Hour ticket for the High Roller and enjoy an open bar along with dazzling views for the duration of the 30-minute revolution. Then, be sure to explore all the shops, restaurants and bars at the adjacent open-air dining, entertainment and retail district.

From the neighboring stop at the Flamingo & station, stop by the Flamingo’s lush Wildlife Habitat, a true oasis and home to Chilean flamingos, African penguins, ducks, swans, pheasants, quail, turtles, Koi and goldfish. Then, take a short walk across to the Forum Shops at Caesars, one of the destination’s premier shopping venues, or perhaps plan to see headline acts such as and at The Colosseum.

Next, at the Bally’s & stop, more shopping awaits. The open-air Grand Bazaar Shops at Bally’s are modeled after a Moroccan marketplace and home to dozens of retailers purveying apparel, accessories and food and drink. Or, opt for another iconic view of Las Vegas from its very own half-scale Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas.

Finally, conclude the day of exploration at the final stop along the Monorail’s route—MGM Grand. Las Vegas nightclubs are legendary and Hakkasan might be one of the most storied nightlife venues of them all, a palatial, multi-level venue featuring the globe’s absolute best DJs. For visitors making their way to the brand-new T-Mobile Arena and The Park who don’t want the cost of parking, cab fare or a rideshare service, both destinations are just a short walk across Las Vegas Boulevard from the MGM Grand station.

Ownership: Owned by the private Las Vegas Monorail Company, a private, not-for-profit corporation granted franchise authority from the Clark County Commission to construct and operate the system.

Funding: Nation’s FIRST metropolitan transit system funded through fare box collections and advertising revenue.

Zero Emissions Trains: In 2015, the Las Vegas Monorail reduced emissions by 29.6 tons of carbon monoxide (CO), volatile organic compounds (VOC) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) and eliminated an estimated 2.3 million vehicle miles from Southern ’s roadways.
