For the inter-island flights that Empire Airlines operates in Hawaii, it generates reports about flight delays, cancellations, and mechanical issues. “Previously we received e-mail messages about the expected length of each delay and which aircraft were involved,” Ellingson recalls. “The Analytics Appliance delivers additional information to key individuals.” Some of this data populates dashboards and historical reports, with actions triggered by automatic alerts. “The Analytics Appliance has powerful alerting capabilities that we plan to use extensively going forward,” she says. “It has become an important reporting program for monitoring our high-level KPIs.” WebFOCUS to Enhance Microsoft Excel Empire Airlines services its fleet at a maintenance repair overhaul (MRO) facility in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. This plane had its origins in 1964, when Boeing began work on a proposal for the C-5A large military airlifter contract, and after Lockheed won that contest, Boeing considered a commercial passenger version as a means of salvaging the program. Urged on by Pan Am president Juan Trippe, Boeing in 1965 assigned a team headed by Chief Engineer Joe Sutter to design a large new airliner, although Boeing at the time was really more focused on its supersonic transport (SST) program. A launch customer order from Pan Am on April 13, 1966 for twenty five aircraft pushed Sutter's program into high gear, and in a truly herculian effort, Joe Sutter and his Boeing team, dubbed “The Incredibles,” brought the program from inception on paper to the public unveiling of a finished aircraft in the then unheard of time of 29 months.     Chapter 22 Aviation Activity Forecasts 1. Introduction This chapter forecasts aviation activity at Coeur d’Alene Airport (COE). Forecasts form the basis of other Master Plan Update (Plan) elements, and identify anticipated growth at COE so improvements can be planned. COE’s users require facilities for safe and efficient operations. The development of these facilities is correlated with aviation activity forecasts. This chapter forecasts based aircraft and aircraft operations. Forecasts prepared by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Idaho Transportation Department’s Division of Aeronautics (ITD-Aero) are compared, and evaluated for their concurrence with observed local and national trends. Aviation activity forecasts and observed trends are used to select a preferred forecast. This chapter also considers the opportunity and viability of scheduled commercial passenger airline service and air cargo at COE. Forecasts have a base year of 2008, selected because of the available data of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 FAA Terminal Area Forecast (TAF) (2009 TAF), and the ITD-Aero 2008 System Plan (2008 System Plan). The forecast reporting years are five, ten, and twenty years. Projections include analysis of statistical data, professional judgment and interpretation, and industry rules of thumb to support the recommendations. Forecasts are generally expected to represent unconstrained demand that the Airport could realistically expect to serve if the necessary facilities to support the demand were present.
