The mission of SaskGaming’s community relations program is to demonstrate good corporate citizenship and to employ best practices in the gaming industry for corporate social responsibility and community investment. SaskGaming is dedicated to the communities in which it operates by contributing to various charities and non-profits through: • Sponsorships, • Show Lounge in-kind donations, • Scholarships, • Employee programs and volunteerism, and, • Creative giving.

SaskGaming distributes its sponsorship funds by contributing to four (4) key focus areas. These key focus areas support SaskGaming’s corporate strategy and its employees, guests and communities. These key focus areas are: Strengthening Our Community • Supporting organizations that provide food or shelter for disad- vantaged people or improve public health and safety. Promoting Community Pride • Supporting festivals, events and tournaments involved with sport, culture, arts, entertainment and/or diversity. These events drive community participation and tourism. Aboriginal People • Supporting events and/or projects that will engage, support and ultimately benefit Aboriginal people and/or organizations within . Supporting Saskatchewan’s Growth through Partnership • Partnership with key stakeholders to sponsor projects, events or conferences that support Saskatchewan’s business development, tourism, economic growth, safety, healthy lifestyles, education and labour development. First Steps Wellness Centre First Steps Wellness Centre Casino Regina was proud to support the First Steps Wellness Centre and the launch of their Children’s Cerebral Palsy Program. The finan- cial support of SaskGaming enabled the centre to begin the program in June.

Moose Jaw Health Foundation Gala

Moose Jaw Habitat for Humanity Colour Run

Casino Moose Jaw had their own colour station at the Habitat for Moose Jaw Health Foundation Gala Regina and Moose Jaw & District Humanity Colour Run that raised approximately $15,000 for the cause Food Banks in Moose Jaw. A handful of Casino Moose Jaw employees decided to get “colourful” and race through the exciting course.

Regina and Moose Jaw & District Food Banks Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw contributed once again to the Regina and Moose Jaw & District Food Banks through the 12 Days of Giving Campaign. With SaskGaming’s help, the food banks were able to reach their goal of $150,000 in donations, which fed over 2,000 families during the holiday season.

Breakout West The 14th annual BreakOut West awards and festival, which showcased the best and brightest in western Canadian music, was held in Regina in October. Casino Regina sponsored the awards show in the Show Lounge. The event featured two headliners: Brett Kissel and Colin Mosaic Festival of Cultures/Motif Multicultural James. Festival , , , , , Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw strategically partner annually with numerous Saskatchewan sports teams. These teams are a source of great pride to the Regina and Moose Jaw communities creating sustainable and beneficial partnerships across the province.

In support of diversity, Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw contribute to both the Regina and Moose Jaw multicultural festivals. These events are anticipated amongst both communities and drive traffic from around the province.

Festival of Words For the seventh year, Casino Moose Jaw was the proud presenting sponsor of the Saturday night live concert for the Festival of Words held in the Mae Wilson Theatre. This event was highly attended with over 300 people and featured award-winning artist and Canadian folk music icon, Connie Kaldor.

Smudge Walk

SaskGaming was proud to be the entertainment sponsor of the Regina Chamber of Commerce North Central Smudge Walk for the third consecutive year. After north central was named Canada’s worst neighbourhood in a 2007 Maclean’s magazine article, the community organized the first walk to help dispel this myth. Fast forward to today and approximately 1,000 people gather yearly for the smudge.

Celebrating Aboriginal Culture

Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw continually celebrate aboriginal traditions and culture. On National Aboriginal Day, SaskGaming saw a performance by the Charging Bear dance group on the Casino Regina gaming floor. Throughout the rest of the year, SaskGaming supported other events such as the Wakamow Pow Wow, the First Nations University of Canada Pow Wow, and the First Nations Rodeo Night at the Agribition.

Regina Symphony Orchestra - Strings for Change

Casino Regina is the title sponsor of the Regina Symphony Orchestra’s Strings for Change program. The program provides professional musical instruction to over 7,000 students each year, most of which are aboriginal, inspiring a love of learning and improving educational outcomes. 4 | Supporting Saskatchewan’s Growth through Partnership Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw proudly partner with the Moose Jaw Chamber of Commerce, the Regina Chamber of Commerce, Evraz Place, Mosaic Place and the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company in support of our communities.

A Year in Review | Community Relations 6 National Aboriginal Day SHOW LOUNGE IN-KIND DONATIONS

SaskGaming believes that providing the Show Lounge in-kind to charity and non-profit organized fundraising events is a win-win. By providing the Show Lounge in-kind, Casino Regina agrees to donate the event space at no charge, plus cover additional costs if agreed upon. The following events filled the Show Lounge and raised funds for many great causes:

The North Central Family Centre Community Kitchen Fundraiser Casinos Regina hosted a wildly successful fundraiser in the Casino Regina Show Lounge for the North Central Family Centre (NCFC). Casino Regina provided a $50,000 donation to the NCFC, bringing the total raised for the centre that evening to $136,000!

Alzheimer’s Society: A Night to Remember

This evening was truly a night to remember, with over $138,000 raised for the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan. “This couldn’t have been done without your [donation]. It is only through the generosity of partners like you, that we can continue to provide support, information and education to people throughout Saskatchewan and fund research to find a cause, cure and to improve the quality of life for those affected by dementia.” – Trina Hodel, Fund Development and Donor Relations Coordinator

These events showcased two evenings of outstanding, upbeat and soulful music in support of the Regina Jazz Society and the Regina Blues Association respectively. Saskatchewan Professional Firefighters Calendar Selection Night

The energized audience attending the annual Firefighters Calendar Selection Night helped to make this year’s event a knockout by raising over $51,000 for the SPFFA Burn Units. These units are located at the Regina General Hospital and at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.

SaskGaming employees are active in our communities donating their time and/or raising funds for the charities and non-profits they care about. SaskGaming encourages and celebrates these employees and their good deeds not only to support our community, but to also support comradery, morale and team spirit. Below are just a few of the ways our employees gave back:

Changing the Odds Food Drive SaskGaming’s third annual employee food drive blew last year’s totals out of the water as the interdepartmental competition brought on a great deal of friendly competition.

Kitchener Holiday Dinner The SaskGaming staff shared their holiday spirit by helping prepare, transport and serve food at Kitchener Community School’s annual holiday dinner. The dinner was a great success with around 400 children and their families in attendance.

Saskatchewan Credit Unions Queen City Marathon Refreshment Station Showgirls and our smiling staff were on site distributing water to the thirsty Queen City Marathon runners. Although the day was cold and rainy, our staff had a blast and stayed warm cheering on the ambitious athletes.

SaskGaming Queen City Marathon Refreshment Station 9 Sticks on Rose Casino Regina entered a street hockey team into the 10th Annual Sticks on Rose tournament in support of the Shooting Stars Foundation. Ryan Murray, of the Columbus Blue Jackets, stepped up to be Casino Regina’s celebrity teammate.

MJ Chamber Golf Tournament You could say the Casino Moose Jaw employees had a driving ambition to give back and have fun at the Moose Jaw Chamber of Commerce An- nual Golf Tournament. Casino Moose Jaw sponsored the Fastest Hole, a favourite among all players that day.

Crave Cup The annual employee charity poker tournament was a great success and raised $2,370 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Orange and Purple Shirt Days The SaskGaming employees sported various coloured t-shirts through- out the year in support of a few causes they are passionate about. On September 30, orange shirts were worn for the “Every Child Matters” movement in recognition of the harm caused by the residential school system. On Dec. 2, 2016, purple shirts were worn on Purple Shirt Day in support of The Neil Squire Society’s employment programing for persons with disabilities.

Dollars for Do-Gooders and Employee Match Programs Throughout the year, staff leveraged their good deeds by utilizing the Dollars for Do-Gooders and the Employee Match Programs. The Dollars for Do-Gooders program donates $250 to a charity or non- profit where an employee has volunteered at least eight hours of their time. The Employee Match program allows SaskGaming to match funds raised by an employee or group of employees up to $1,000. Teams and individuals creatively raised funds and volunteered for many organizations including the Salvation Army’s Adopt-A-Family, The Cancer Society, Regina Cat Rescue, JDRF, Carmichael Outreach, Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan, and many more.

This year, SaskGaming distributed $29,000 in scholarships to the University of Regina, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies, and to SaskGaming employees through the internal scholarship programs.

SaskGaming’s Charity Championship, held at Casino Regina on August 19, was a huge hit! Thirty-two teams of four competed in a 100-foot inflatable obstacle course to win a portion of the $20,000 prize pool, which was donated to the charity of their choice. Teams were also asked to fundraise for their charities in advance and they stepped up in a big way, raising a whopping $45,500! Employees also had their chance to battle it out on the course in a staff-only competi- tion, with $2,500 in donations to their favourite charities on the line. Nine employee teams took part, and raised an additional $620 for their charities, which the corporation matched through the Employee Match program. In total, the Charity Championship raised more than $72,000 for over 30 charitable organizations!

Beginning in October, guests at Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw began to donate their cash out vouchers to charity. Guests who did not wish to redeem their cashout vouchers for cash were encouraged to support their community and drop them into the donation boxes on the gaming floors. The annual Black Tie NHL Draft was a hit this year, raising a whop- ping $95,000! At the end of playoffs, SaskGaming was the successful team and took home the $20,000 grand prize. The winnings were donated back to the Shooting Stars Foundation and in return for the donation, SaskGaming received entry into the 2017 NHL Draft as well as a team entry into the 2016 Sticks on Rose tournament, where NHL Hockey Draft winnings donated back to the SaskGaming employees played in the annual street hockey tournament Shooting Stars Foundations at Sticks on Rose on Rose Street in downtown Regina. Casino Regina partnered with Great Western Brewing Company at the Lowest of the Low with Coldest Night of the Year concert in the Show Lounge to raise finds for those impacted by the Fort McMurray wildfire.
