Moored Drawing Catalina Capri 26 – Its storied past

This boat “Nostos” is a great , very comfortable with a roomy cockpit -- a solid boat ready to sail. With teak interior, the Capri 26 has a beamy cabin with decent head room for a boat of its size. It also has a walk through transom with a boarding ladder in the cockpit and it is extremely fun to sail. There are two large berths and it will easily sleep four adults. This boat includes an inboard diesel engine with a shoal wing keel. All canvas was redone in 2009, sails are still in excellent shape and the headsail has a winter cover and new in 2012 sacrificial sun cover.

We are the second owners, the first owners well equipped the Capri so that they could sail it mainly in the large lakes in Idaho but they also journeyed down the Columbia River from Lewiston and sailed it up in the San Juan’s one summer. They stored the boat indoors, we have had the boat moored since our purchase in late 2008 at which time we replaced all of the rigging and had the bottom painted.

The Capri 26 was built by starting in 1990 and was designed to be a performance family boat. Over 300 boats were built when the last hull left the mold in 1997. Nostos is #243 of 300. Nostos

Background:

We spent our first nine years of marriage living on the water, boating and . After moving off the river our day-to-day lives on land just didn’t seem the same. One day long after our son was grown and out of the house we realized how much we missed our time on the water. The search for the perfect sailboat ensued.

The name of the boat was inspired by a bottle of wine that we saw one day while shopping at New Seasons. We had been trying to come up with a name for the boat and we had names on our list that included everything from the very mundane and typical to frankly just bizarre. After looking at the back of the bottle to find out more about the winery, we knew this was a perfect name for our boat.

Wine Label: Nostos, from the Greek of Homer’s day, expresses a yearning to return, love of homeland and of one’s roots…nostalgia. Contact Us
