As the State Attorney of Israel, supervised the administration of all litigation to which the State of Israel is a party. In conjunction with the Attorney General, directly coordinated the handling of sensitive and complex cases 1988 Appointed Judge in the Tel-Aviv District Court 1984 Appointed District Attorney of the Central District 1971 to 1984 Served as an attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of the Central District and dealt with a variety of cases involving serious crimes. During this period she also served as the representative of the Minister of Justice on the District Planning and Building Committee and was a member of the Psychiatric Committee, dealing with the release from hospitalization of mentally ill individuals who had committed criminal offenses 1967 Completed her law degree at the Law Faculty of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and continued her studies at Bar-Ilan University. She became a member of the Israel Bar Association in 1969 after which she worked in private practice Justice Edna Arbel was born in Jerusalem Justice Arbel has served on a number of committees at the behest of the Attorney General and the Minister of Justice, such as the Committee on Undercover Agents and the committee that investigated the events following the takeover of the terrorists who attacked bus number 300. Justice Arbel also served on the staff of the committee of inquiry that investigated the tragic events of Sabra and Shatila in 1982. Justice Arbel lectured on Criminal Procedure and Evidence at the Law Faculty and the Department of Criminology at the Tel-Aviv University as part of Higher Training Courses for IDF officers. While in the position of State Attorney lectured at the Academic Center in Kiryat Ono. Justice Arbel represented the State of Israel at a number of international conferences including: U.N. Preparatory Commission for the International Criminal Court, Rome (1998); Inauguration of International Criminal Law Network, Hague (2002); Global Forum on Fighting Corruption and Safeguarding Integrity among Justice and Security Officials, Washington, D.C. (1999); International Association of Prosecutors Conference, Beijing (1999); Global Forum of Prosecutors, Hague (2001) Justice Arbel is married to Lieutenant General (Res.) Uri Arbel, mother to three daughters, and grandmother to eight grandchildren. .
