Start your review of Uggie--My Story. May 18, Debbie Zapata rated it it was ok Shelves: dar. My mom found this at a book sale a few years ago and passed it on to me when she was through with it. I picked it up this morning after I did my garden chores, and skimmed the Artist: My Story. Skimmed it because it is written in 'first dog-person' style and tries way too hard to be cute. I could not stomach too much of that, but I did enjoy reading the training techniques used to make Uggie a canine film star. And the pictures were nice. Not a keeper, though. Mar 10, Jami rated it really liked it Shelves: animal-books. I absolutely adored this book, which was surprising to me as I have not seen The Artist the Artist: My Story had no idea who Uggie was. It was told from Uggie's perspective and it was humorous; there were plenty of parts where I just had to laugh out loud! I was also happy that they got plugs in for their rescue group work, which is always a plus. This was a fast read and the pictures are adorable. I felt like I really got to know Uggie's unique Uggie and the information about how the film was made was fasc I absolutely adored this book, which was surprising to me as I have not seen The The Artist: My Story and had no idea who Uggie was. I felt like I really got to know Uggie's unique personality and the information about how the film was made was fascinating. I mean, who knew that to get a dog to lick another dog's butt in a movie, they smear baby food over the dog's butt?!? I also remember Uggie's commercial where he pushes cookies out for Santa and then falls asleep and Santa leaves him a bone as a present; I didn't realize it was Uggie that made that commercial until I read the book. It was nice to read a book about a Uggie where the dog is still alive. The ending paragraph was great, albeit bittersweet: "My only hope is that long after my the Artist: My Story no longer trod this earth, I will still be remembered as a little artist with a big heart. Whatever you want to call it, it's a tale of a Jack Russell named Uggie who went Uggie nearly a pound puppy straight into Omar von Muller's arms. With steady training, Omar took a Uggie canine and thru discipline, care and treats, focused Uggie into a The Artist: My Story and film star. Although he was in several films and many commercials, his break-out role was in The Artist. Uggie willing admits his adoration of Reese Witherspoon, his love of skateboard Biography? Uggie willing admits his adoration of Reese Witherspoon, his love of skateboarding, waterskiiing and of course, sausages. The hard work that he, his human family and the other dogs and one cat do as actors as well as supporting rescue groups in North and South America. He also admits his Uggie - the so-called Cat-Gate, Goat-Gate and Zebra-Gate and his occasional lapses into pure instinct especially with squirrels and those p-grams he commemorates various locations. The sad part is that even as Uggie was becoming a beloved international screen star, his age was catching up the Artist: My Story him as well as some medical problems and sheer age. But that didn't seem to slow the Artist: My Story bundle Uggie energy down as he joined into the award season with his castmates. The book ends with Omar letting his aging star slow down. This book was published in with numerous pictures of this adorable actor. The Artist: My Story quick and enjoyable read Apr 14, Matt rated it it was amazing. I Uggie wanted to see The Artist until someone told me there was a cute doggie featured prominently in it, and then I was astounded by how the clever antics of a Jack Russel terrier pulled me into a charming and moving story about Hollywood's Golden Age. I really love dogs, especially small dogs. I was worried this book would be a little too pandering, the kind of cutesy phoned-in work that plays well the Artist: My Story your grandma but makes your English teacher reach for the suicide hotline. Good news! I literally laughed at some of the anecdotes and especially when one caption read, "Behind those puppy dog eyes lurked a killer" AND cried no, Uggie is not dead, but reading the Artist: My Story how he's aging summons unpleasant thoughts, and some of Uggie moving words the humans in Uggie's life have about him are heart-swelling at this book. The last book I'd read was the macabre Night Film, and this joyful scamper of a book was a perfect palate-cleanser. Sep 24, Leah K rated it liked it. It was cute, it really was. So The Artist: My Story found myself annoyed that Uggie dog thought in such a humanistic manner — of course how interesting would the book have been if was truly written in the thoughts of a dog? So all is forgiven. It goes through his life from puppyhood to when he is 10ish, his adoption, his training, his interaction within movies and the such.     CITY OF LOS ANGELES RESOLUTION "UGGIE" WHEREAS, Uggie was rejected by at least his first two owners as being too wild. He was about to be sent to a dog pound, but was adopted by animal trainer Omar Von Muller after his friends alerted him to the dog. Von Muller only intended to foster the dog while he found him a new home, but decided that U ggie should stay. WHEREAS, Uggie was a crazy, very energetic puppy. Uggie was very smart and very willing to work. One of the most important things was that U ggie was not afraid of things. That is what makes or breaks a dog in the movies, whether they are afraid of lights, and noises and being on sets; and WHEREAS, Uggie is rewarded with sausages, to encourage him to perform, but that is only a part of it. When not working, Uggie lives in North Hollywood with Von Muller, Von Muller's wife, and Von Muller's six­ year old daughter. There are seven other dogs in the household, all of whom work in the film industry; and WHEREAS, Uggie's earliest roles were in commercials and minor roles in the films What's Up Scarlett, Wassup Rockers (2005), and Mr. Fix It (2006) alongside David Boreanaz. His first named role, and big break, was as ''Queenie" in the romantic drama Water for Elephants, alongside actors Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon; and WHEREAS, Uggie appeared in "The Incredible Dog Show" from August 2010 onwards, a tour of dogs with different tricks, which toured the United States and South America; his trick was riding a skateboard; and WHEREAS, in 20 ll silent movie The Artist, and it was this role that brought him to the attention of 1 mass media, with some critics describing him as "stealing every scene' • He had two stunt doubles in the film, named Dash and Dude, who were colored to look more like Uggie, but Uggie did most ofhis own stunts and the doubles were barely required.

Mr. Hollande, who had been inaugurated into office just three days previously, visited Washington and Chicago in what was his first trip outside of Europe as a head of state. He was greeted by U.S. President Barack Obama the morning of Friday, May 18, for a bilateral meeting in the White House’s Oval Office. Accompanied by senior- level staff, the two enjoyed a cordial first encounter that included policy discus- sions on subjects including Afghanistan, the euro currency zone, and a less serious aside between Mssrs. Hollande and Obama cheeseburgers. After leaving the White House, Mr. Hollande met with Prime Minister David Cameron. The UK’s highest elected official was also in Washington for the Group of Eight (G8) Summit the following day at Camp David, Maryland. Organized in 2008 with leadership from France as a response to the global financial crisis, the G8 regularly gathers the world’s eight largest economies to coordinate global eco- nomic stability. A press conference was held later the same afternoon at the French embassy in Washington with 80 French and international journalists present. Mr. Hollande then met with the French community in Washington at the embassy, with whom he dicussed the election, his plans for the next five years, and expressed his thanks for the French community’s support.
