God’s reckoning upon a wayward world For years, Israel has had to live with existential threats from Iran and its neighbors, yet hardly anyone has done anything about it. The world seems to take for granted that Israel must live with such threats without ever doing anything about it either. Imagine what would happen if Russia, or China, made such threats to America, or vice versa. A few years ago, when the media went into another one of those cyclical frenzies with the notion that Israel was about to attack Iran and destroy that nation’s nuclear facilities before it developed nuclear weapons, we said that according to biblical prophecies it is Iran who will attack Israel, not the other way around. Our prediction has proven true. In February 2012, Iran attacked a number of Israeli missions abroad – in Georgia, India, and Thailand, to mention those that made it into the media. From there, attacking Israel itself is only a short step away. Iran has shown that its threats to Israel are not mere talk; that it is prepared to act on them. This has changed the name of the game. Israel is now entitled to reply and take action before a greater disaster hits the nation. This is not going to make Israel many friends. On the contrary, biblical prophecies tell us that this tiny nation will face the wrath of the entire world. We have said much about those prophecies in the past, and may yet say more in the future, God willing, but for now we will only post this prophecy as a reminder. -

Traditionally, urban-rural fringe areas are identified using statistical analysis methods that consider indexes from single or multiple factors, such as population densities, the ratio of building land, the proportion of the non-agricultural population, and economic levels. However, these methods have limitations, for example, the statistical data are not continuous, the statistical standards are not uniform, the data is seldom available in real time, and it is difficult to avoid issues on the statistical effects from edges of administrative regions or express the internal differences of these areas. This paper proposes a convenient approach to identify the urban-rural fringe using nighttime light data of DMSP/OLS images. First, a light characteristics–combined value model was built in ArcGIS 10.3, and the combined characteristics of light intensity and the degree of light intensity fluctuation are analyzed in the urban, urban-rural fringe, and rural areas. -

Shanghai, China Overview Introduction The name Shanghai still conjures images of romance, mystery and adventure, but for decades it was an austere backwater. After the success of Mao Zedong's communist revolution in 1949, the authorities clamped down hard on Shanghai, castigating China's second city for its prewar status as a playground of gangsters and colonial adventurers. And so it was. In its heyday, the 1920s and '30s, cosmopolitan Shanghai was a dynamic melting pot for people, ideas and money from all over the planet. Thanks to economic reforms implemented in the 1980s by Deng Xiaoping, Shanghai's commercial potential has reemerged and is flourishing again. The order, worth approximately 3.6 billion yen, comprises variable voltage variable frequency (VVVF) inverters, traction motors, auxiliary power supplies, regenerative braking systems and other electric equipment for 27 six-coach trains. Deliveries will begin this May. The Changping Line is one of five new subway lines scheduled to start operating in Beijing this year. The 32.7-kilometer line running through the Changping district of northwest Beijing will have 9 stops between Xierqi and Ming Tombs Scenic Area stations. Mitsubishi Electric’s Itami Works will manufacture traction motors for the 162 coaches. Zhuzhou CSR Times Electronic will make the box frames and procure certain components. Zhuzhou Shiling Transportation Equipment Co., Ltd, a joint-venture between the two companies, will assemble all components and execute final testing. Mitsubishi Electric already has received a large number of orders for electric railcar equipment around the world. In China alone, orders received from city metros include products for the Beijing Subway lines 2 and 8; Tianjin Metro lines 1, 2 and 3; Guangzhou Metro lines 4 and 5; and Shenyang Metro Line 1. -
