FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For more information, contact: Jerry Kane Madison County Transit (618) 797-4600 MCT CONSIDERS CHANGES TO SENIOR FREE RIDE PROGRAM MCT will Host Public Meetings June 7-8, 2011 GRANITE CITY, ILL., MAY 16, 2011… Madison County Transit (MCT) is hosting three meetings to solicit public comment on proposed changes to the Senior Free Ride Program for its fixed-route service. If approved, MCT will conform to Illinois Public Act 96-1527 and only provide free rides on its fixed route for seniors who qualify based on age and income level. In February of this year, Governor Quinn signed legislation to reform the Senior Free Rides program, limiting the program to only those seniors who earn less than $27,610 for a one-person household, $36,635 for a two-person household and $45,657 for a three-person household. MCT Public meeting dates, times and locations to discuss the changes are listed below: Tuesday, June 7 (2:00 – 3:00 p.m.) MCT Granite City Station Wednesday, June 8, (2:00 – 3:00 p.m.) MCT Alton Station Wednesday, June 8, (6:00 – 7:00 p.m.) MCT Edwardsville Station Comments at the public meetings will be summarized and presented to the MCT Board of Trustees for consideration. Chicago to St. Louis High-Speed Rail Tier 1 Final Environmental Impact Statement: Volume I
Section TRANSPORTATION 6 IMPACTS 6. Transportation Impacts6. Transportation 6.0 Transportation Impacts This section describes the transportation impacts expected with the No‐Build and Build Alternatives. The Service Development Plan and expected travel benefits are presented. Year 2030 ridership projections and operating revenues for passenger rail service are presented for each alternative. Projected annual person trips for air, bus, and automobile intercity travel are also presented. In addition to the intercity passenger information, impacts to future freight and commuter rail operations and vehicular traffic are discussed, including impacts from construction and vehicular impacts associated with the changes proposed at the highway‐railroad at‐grade crossings in the corridor. Generally, transportation impacts are expected to be the same for the Build Alternatives (Alternatives A and B and Preferred Alternatives C and D). Therefore, much of the discussion in this chapter compares impacts between the No‐Build and Build Alternatives. Where there are expected differences amongst the Build Alternatives, additional documentation is provided for each of the four Build Alternatives. 6.1 Service Development Plan In accordance with FRA High Speed Rail guidance referred to in 74 Fed. Reg. 29900 (June 23, 2009), this section outlines the Service Development Plan (SDP) for the Build Alternatives (Alternatives A and B and Preferred Alternatives C and D) for the Chicago – St. Louis corridor described by this Tier 1 Environmental Impact Statement. The following items are addressed within this subsection: Intercity travel options Service levels/frequencies Capital program needs Ridership/revenue forecasted, including number of passengers and boardings/disembarking at stations 6.1.1 Intercity Travel Options Intercity travel by auto, bus, and air represent alternative travel options to high‐speed intercity rail. -

The new Alton station, the latest of several station improvements overseen by IDOT along the Chicago-St. Louis passenger rail corridor, opened to Amtrak service Wednesday, Sept. 13. “This beautiful new transportation center is one more step in a statewide effort to enhance the passenger rail experience along the Chicago-St. Louis corridor,” Illinois Transportation Secretary Randy Blankenhorn said. “Travelers in Alton will enjoy a reliable, convenient options to get to where they want to go, while the region benefits from a new station that will help to create economic opportunity for years to come.” The new 8,000-square-foot facility will not only serve passengers on Amtrak’s Lincoln and Texas Eagle trains, but provide an important connection to the eight bus bays for the new Madison County Transit transfer hub. Madison County Metrolink Study Open Houses
DECEMBER 2004 OPEN HOUSES Welcome to the fi rst round of public open houses for the Madison County MetroLink Feasibility Study. The purpose of this 10-month study is to explore the feasibility of extending light rail into Madison County. This means that a MetroLink route will not be selected at the end of the study. Instead, valu- able technical information and public input will be collected then reviewed by local offi cials. They will then determine whether light rail is a viable transit option that should be pursued for Madison County. If it is, detailed planning studies will need to be conducted in order to select a preferred specifi c route. East-West Gateway Council of Governments, our metropolitan area’s transportation planning agency, and its consultants are managing this feasibility study. Supporting the study team is a Policy Advisory Committee made up of 18 community leaders. Madison County Transit is funding the study. In preparing for tonight’s open house, the consulting team studied the county’s existing and future conditions including population density, employment density and households with no cars. In addition, we interviewed several area stakeholders and conducted focus groups to get a feel for the transportation, economic development and other issues facing the county. Then we used all of this information to develop the study’s goals, or in transit planning terms the study’s “Purpose and Need” statement, and to develop potential MetroLink routes for Madison County. Tonight we present the information we have gathered thus far to get your feedback. We need to know your thoughts on our “Purpose and Need” statement. -

SCHOOL IS in SESSION on the MCT TRAILS MCT Launches School-Themed Scavenger Hunt on the Trails
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For more information, contact: Amanda Schomaker Madison County Transit (618) 797-4600 SCHOOL IS IN SESSION ON THE MCT TRAILS MCT Launches School-Themed Scavenger Hunt on the Trails GRANITE CITY, IL., September 10, 2020… Following the success of two previous scavenger hunts, and in response to an unusual COVID-19 altered school year, Madison County Transit (MCT) is launching a back-to- school scavenger hunt to be utilized on its more than 135 miles of MCT Trails. The “School’s in Session” scavenger hunt will occur mid-September through the month of October and will focus on encouraging trailgoers of all ages to venture out on the trails, while putting their knowledge to the test. Those who participated in the previous scavenger hunts may recognize some fan-favorite missions but can expect several new missions as well. Missions include creative challenges and questions that are text-based, GPS-based, or photo-based. To ensure that there are missions for everyone to enjoy, MCT created two versions of the hunt: an elementary level game for younger students and families, and an advanced level game for seasoned students and trailgoers ages 13 and up. Once again, the scavenger hunt will be facilitated through the free, interactive app “GooseChase.” Participants simply download the app and search for the game they wish to join. In this case, either “MCT Trails School’s in Session: Elementary Game” or “MCT Trails School’s in Session: Advanced Game.” One can also search by game code: “R7P8GM” for the elementary game, or “PEJPJK” for the advanced game.
