She attends The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, majoring in English, and writes articles for Ka Leo, the university newspaper. Brittany’s father, Lester Nakamoto, is a Branch Manager at Bank of Hawaii, and her Mom, Della Nakamoto, is an independent insurance agent with Atlas Insurance in Maui.

ANNETTE PANG owns two licensed Adult Residential Care Homes for the elderly, where she observes that many families are unable to come together to care for their lovev ones. She developed 10 modalities for providing tools to families that help strengthen, relieve and heal family interactions. She also was a teacher at Hanahau‘oli School. As a Relation- ship Coach for families of seniors, she provides personal coaching in peacemaking. and offers public service advice, via her blog and podcasts at www.legendarywisdoms.com.

ALAN PARKER grew up on Hawai‘i Island. He joined the County of Hawaii as a planner, and worked with the Parks and Recreation Department and thr Office of Aging, where he serves as director. During his tenure with HCOA, many Hawaii programs for seniors and persons of all ages with disabilities were adopted in other counties. He also wrote for The Silver Bullet newsletter. Alan is an avid musican and singer, performing as [name of band]. In 2014 he retired, and brings us his perspective as he discovers life “after career.”

GARY POWELL is an O‘ahu native with a history of service to the communities of Hawai‘i. He founded and serves as Executive Director of The Caregiver Foundation, where he de- votes his time to providing education and support for caregivers and services for those needing care. Gary views caregiving not as a job, “but an opportunity,” to help make the lives of those needing care more comfortable and dignified.

SCOTT SPALLINA suprevises the Elder Abuse Justice Unit at the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney in Honolulu. He created this unit in 2008, at the direction of then Prosecuting Attorney Peter Carlisle, and remains the team’s supervisor under current Prosecuting Attorney Keith Kaneshiro. During his 18-year career with the Prosecutor’s Office, Scott also headed the Domestic Violence Team. Scott also reaches out to various clubs and organizations around the state, with presentations on crime prevention.
