Rosedale Open Match day 3 ======

Lower Tadfield Apocalypse - Call of Cthulhu 2 : 1 Scorers: Agnes Nutter (37.), Witchfinder Major Saucepan (81.) ***Juk-Shabb (87.) Penalties: - (1 missed) ***- Sent off: --- ***Juk-Shabb (6.) Booked: --- ***Dagon, Yig A truly hardfought bataille at Tadfield Manor, but with a referee intent on cracking down on the roughest team. Helped enormously by Juk-Shabbs early red card, Tadfield claims their third straight win of the season, but the Lurking Fear certainly came closer than their previous opponents.

Grunts United - Camarilla Divided 0 : 1 Scorers: --- ***Ozzy 'Puppet' Mandrill (60.) Penalties: - ***- (1 missed) Generation X plays completely clean and is rolled over by the Grunts, who kept producing chance after chance after chance. After a true gazillion of missed Greenskin chances, Max makes a long pass to his business associate Ozzy, and Ozzy makes no mistakes and score 0-1, for the final result and a complete robbery - 4-0 for Grunts would have been more fair.

Stranraer Reserves - the Blitzball Team 1 : 3 Scorers: Mark Miclos (82.) ***Rikku (2., 78.), Wakka (34.) Penalties: - (2 missed) ***- Booked: Dean Arman, Ivan Asticov, Jacques Ancelit, Mark Miclos ***Ophelia EB: After a less than desirable start the first round, Stranraer kept their calm, and almost manage to get a point or two at Stair Park. But they had forgotten to practice their penalty shots, and missed 2. Blitzball Team on the other did not let this opportunity slip, and netted 3 goals before Stranraer got their first.

Sale Savoyards - Grorud Grasshuggers 7 : 1 Scorers: Strephon (34., 70., 87.), Hilarian (19., 47., 76.), Cyril (29.) ***Zim the Invader (13.) The Singers host table neighbours Grasshuggers tonight, but won't let anyone doubt which one is challenging for medals this season - even with Grasshuggers claiming an early lead, Sale Savoyards just kept scoring throughout the match and place themselves among the top contenders of the season.

Saturday Morning FC - Really New Bremen Cyberdruids 3 : 0 Scorers: Rick Hunter (63.) ***--- Penalties: 2 ***- Booked: --- ***Dominic 'Victim' Hobson, Gregorio Vinchester, Samuel EB: Stranraer reserves has something to learn from Saturday Morning when it comes to penalty kicks. It's important that the ball end up in the net. Jørgen Bjørnelv might've lost this match by playing to rough in defense, but that a question we'll leave to the philosophers. the Ancients - Jedi Order 6 : 2 Scorers: Heterodontosaurus (9., 79.), Mammoth (51.), Trilobite (14.), Eohippus (15.) ***Leia Organa Solo (12.), Jocasta Nu (41.) Penalties: 1 ***- EB: Both teams had a less than comfortable start of the season, with only 1 point each. But someone had to grab the short straw, and the oldtimers were too senile to fall for any cheap Jedi trick.

Rosedale Open Match day 4 ======Call of Cthulhu - Stranraer Reserves 4 : 0 Scorers: Nyarlathotep (22., 85.), Yig (67.), Nodens (2.) ***--- Sent off: --- ***Helmut O'Hertz (37.), Phil MacRevis (57.) Booked: --- ***Heiyu Hoyahamahia EB: This time Trond didn't need to call upon the forces of darkness to beat their opponent, but it did help that half their opponent's fans were eaten by something huge, green and with tentacles.

Camarilla Divided - Saturday Morning FC 2 : 3 Scorers: Charlie 'Smallpox' Guthrie (3.), Jerry 'Informed' Time (28.) ***Rick Hunter (36., 83.), Dick Dastardly (64.) Penalties: - ***- (1 missed) Booked: Raymond "Knowhow" Ash ***--- Oups! Operation mixmaster it is, and SMFC somewhat luckily pulls off a win in the Mansion Cellar! Way to go, 2Ds... but Generation X, what happened to that invincibility of last season?

Jedi Order - Lower Tadfield Apocalypse 1 : 1 Scorers: Leia Organa Solo (34.) ***Agnes Nutter (83.) Booked: Leia Organa Solo ***--- EB: Heard during the match: Leia Organa to the referee: "I don't know who you are or where you've come from, but from now on you'll do as I say, okay?"

Really New Bremen Cyberdruids - the Ancients 2 : 3 Scorers: Maurice P. Schmidt (63.), Xen Xiaoping (90.) ***Mammoth (1.), Euoplocephalus (19.), Heterodontosaurus (74.) EB: When you use a cemetary as a homefield, there's always fun things happening. Like when someone gets a hold of a human head from a shallow grave. The Cyberdruids netted the most heads, but the referee only counted the ones using the matchball. the Blitzball Team - Sale Savoyards 2 : 0 Scorers: Rikku (18.), Ophelia (67.) ***--- Booked: Rikku ***--- Another win for the Blitzballers, this time at Zanarkand Memorial Stadium. The Singers will have to score goals away if they hope to compete for medals!

Grorud Grasshuggers - Grunts United 3 : 2 Scorers: Herb (14., 75.), The Doom Song (18.) ***Tenzy Tenz (75.), Lenny Lesser (13.) Penalties: - (1 missed) ***- Booked: Pit the even younger, SnooSnoo ***Larry Long The first of the prestigiouos Brill championships of the season! Grunts opened best, but the Grasshuggers promptly equalized and took the lead. Then they fought back and forth for more than a half, and the game exploded in a flurry with Grunts equalizing, and then Herb scoring another leading goal from kickoff! All in all, the best team won, but the game could very well have ended in a draw.

Lexington League Match day 3 ======

Dead Dino Storage - Monkey Business 2 : 3 Scorers: The Flower Kings (84.), Spock's Beard (76.) ***Guybrush Threepwood (5., 70.), Carla (1.) Penalties: - (1 missed) ***- Two freshmen teams face off at the Dark Side of the Moon. Monkey Business opened with a shock start, and lead 2-0 before DDS got off their butts! The game appeared all but decided when Guybrush put in a third 20 minutes before end, but trying to safe in only let DDS back into the match, and only by them missing a penalty did Monkey Business keep both points. Close!

Marvel Comics - Trivial Brief Association 4 : 1 Scorers: Eddy Gordo (6., 55.), Juggernaut (70.), Wolverine (75.) ***Byrocratic Trenching Worldwide (22.) Booked: Miss Marvel ***--- EB: Marvel Comics did not rest after their defeat last round. And with a huge crowdpleasing success, they beat the shorties into their boots at Charles Xavier's Courtyard.

Coventry - Car Park Rangers 1 : 7 Scorers: Carl Crocker (35.) ***Tetsujin (17., 42., 62.), Victor Hocks (35., 61.), Tommy Monaghan (53., 85.) Penalties: - ***- (1 missed) Booked: Graham Moreson ***--- EB: After two seasons in Rosedale Open, Carpark has finally found their mojo. Coventry stood no chance against the raging powers.

First Men of Rome - Gangsters United 1 : 2 Scorers: Marcus Tullius Cicero (16.) ***Vincent Vega (85.), The Joker (73.) Booked: Titus Flavius Vespasianus ***--- EB: Both teams need a win to stay in range of the top, but Gangsters needed it more. The men from Rome thought they could win by playing defensively after their first goal, but that usually never works out.

Dangermouse - Dial Square FC 5 : 0 Scorers: The Fog Monster (5., 24., 40.), Count Duckula (51.), Penfold (15.) *** --- Penalties: - ***- (1 missed) EB: Dangermouse continues their climb towards the top with a comfortable win at Mouse Dome. They are amongst the favorites this year to win the division.

Desassossego Blues - Mishima Zaibatsu 0 : 5 Scorers: --- ***Matthew Bright (16., 68., 75.), Yoshimitsu (38., 53.) EB: After loosing the promotion two seasons in a row, Mishima Zaibatsu has put in an extra effort this year, and aims to win all their matches. So far so good, and Desassossego Boys didn't stand a chance, even with a homematch.

Lexington League Match day 4 ======

Monkey Business - Coventry 15 : 2 Scorers: Skeleton Bob (33., 53., 58., 63., 69.), Guybrush Threepwood (17., 27., 43., 86.), Elaine Marley (10., 51., 73.), Herman Toothrot (38., 82.), Stan (29.) ***Robbie Starr (36., 81.) Sent off: --- ***Carl Crocker (77.) Booked: --- ***Harry Shimmy Monkey Business appears to be continuing where they left off last season, and demolishes Coventry completely. It appears as though the difference can be measured in divisions, rather than points - does Unka Unka Unka have some tricks up his green sleeve to turn things around?

Trivial Brief Association - Dangermouse 0 : 0 Penalties: - (1 missed) ***- Booked: Dissy Video Dreamer ***Count Duckula EB: A brilliant, but cowardice tactic by the shorties, secured Henry Scarborough another point at Out of Range. Dangermouse never got a chance to score.

Mishima Zaibatsu - Dead Dino Storage 6 : 1 Scorers: Anna Williams (11., 42., 54.), Yoshimitsu (70., 85.), Prototype Jack (67.) *** (58.) EB: The DDS seemed abit dead on the field, maybe they allready knew they were gonna loose this match. Mishima won deservingly with 5 goals at the Iron Fist Tournament.

Dial Square FC - Desassossego Blues 0 : 2 Scorers: --- ***Thomas Crosse (71.), Alberto Caeiro (82.) Booked: --- ***Charles Search EB: A surprise win by the Blues. Dial Square seemed to be more occupied watching the grass grow than stopping their opponent. But it was not until the 71. minute that the first goal was counted.

Car Park Rangers - First Men of Rome 2 : 2 Scorers: Bob the Tremere (66.), Victor Hocks (50.) ***Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus (32., 81.) Penalties: - ***- (1 missed) Sent off: --- ***Gaius Julius Caesar (54.) Booked: Bob the Tremere, Kitty Pryde ***Marcus Aemilius Lepidus EB: Eventhough this match ended in a draw, it just illustrates Carpark's climb back to the top. First men of Rome on the other hand, came from a lower division, so a draw away is almost as good as a win at home.

Gangsters United - Marvel Comics 12 : 2 Scorers: Nina Myers (18., 23., 48., 90.), Dr. Evil (29., 62., 68.), The man with the plan (53., 57.), Tony Soprano (13., 37.) ***Cyclops (86.), Miss Marvel (2.) Penalties: 1 ***- Booked: --- ***Glitterball EB: The Gangsters played as they usually play, and scored a humongous amount of goals, and this time, their opponents didn't score quite as many. A big victory for the Mobsters.

Berkeley Conference Match day 3 ======

Brazil Star Conquerors - Odd Athletics 2 : 0 Scorers: Gerson (4.), Ronaldo (52.) ***--- Booked: ***--- EB: An early goal led the 5-stars to victory. There was nothing odd about this result, not even athletical. Underdogs FC - Fluffy Bunny Eaters 1 : 3 Scorers: Trond R›nningen (8.) ***Snuggles (85.), Fluffles (59.), Bunny Eater (34.) A fairly even match at the Kennel, with the fluffy bunny eaters having earned a lot of stamina from eating fluffy bunnies, and thus decided the match to their favour in the second half. Two needed points for the Tubbies, to try climbing out of the relegation zone.

Lords - DC Red Hot and Blues 3 : 1 Scorers: Nes Eri (14.), Nen Ires (48.), Tisik Reten (76.) ***Boris Steppans (73.) Booked: --- ***Jorge Pasqualle, Michael Kelly EB: The top match in Berkeley Conference this week. Both the Lords and DC Red Hot managed 4 point last round. This time someone had to give. The hometeam won with the help of their fans and local knowledge of the burrowing animals in their playing field.

Pocket Valley Philosophers - Sleep Wanderers 1 : 7 Scorers: --- ***Cluracan (6 goal$s), Mazikeen (28.) Penalties: 1 ***- Booked: --- ***Fiddlers Green, Mazikeen EB: 3 teams manged full score last round, and with two of them playing against eachother, the third, Sleep Wanderers, saw the opportunity to stay on top. In addition to this motivation, Cluracan had gotten his hand on a cloak of invisibility, and scored 6 of the match's 8 goals.

World Ambassadors - Sheffield Thursday 9 : 0 Scorers: Ian Bond (17., 28., 78., 83.), Christian Wyatt (37., 49., 72.), Russ Bynum (88.), John Milardovic (89.) ***--- Booked: Abba Elfman ***Marc McClure, Mike Virgilio EB: Sheffield Thursday was in mood for some real and rough football this round, and sent their team with a full arsenal of secret weapons. The World Ambassadors had foreseen this, and given the Owls the wrong adress. By the time their opponent arrived, it was too late to do anything about the score.

Super Milk - Batt in Blax 1 : 12 Scorers: Milk with Tea (43.) *** (33., 42., 59., 72.), (7., 62., 82.), (29., 36., 45.), Craig McMillan (24.) Penalties: - ***1 Booked: Milk Boy, White Water ***Craig McMillan EB: Batt in Blax scores again. A very comfortable win for the Black Caps. Super Milk seems to have more sour milk than the fans can turn. The Press speculates that Super Milk's dyslectic supporters meant to call their club the invisible, and not the invincible.

Berkeley Conference Match day 4 ======

Odd Athletics - Lords 1 : 1 Scorers: --- ***Pizdo Lizec (37.) Penalties: 1 ***- Booked: --- ***Tisik Reten Odd's manager has returned from training in Trondheim, and managed with the help of thinking in Sibir and a bunch of luck to claim a point against Lords who had a full 6 out of 6 so far. Still, both teams currently look to be leaving Berkeley - in opposite directions.

Fluffy Bunny Eaters - World Ambassadors 1 : 5 Scorers: Fluffles (25.) ***Christian Wyatt (38., 90.), Tony Burner (27.), Abba Elfman (54.), Ian Bond (10.) Booked: --- ***Christian Wyatt The World Ambassadors climb up the table with this away win, after a rock solid performance - Fluffy Bunny Eaters appears to watch the Duracell Bunny run out of sight, having stopped after just 25 minutes of usage time.

Batt in Blax - Brazil Star Conquerors 8 : 2 Scorers: Nathan Astle (17., 22., 29., 43., 54.), Stephen Fleming (39., 50.), Hamish Marshall (84.) *** (48.), Rivelino (11.) Booked: Craig McMillan ***Nilton Santos EB: There no place like Eden Park to score plenty of goals. Batt in Blax shows that it's not only away that they can score goals. Another big goalfest, and they are sure to get the topscorer of the season.

Sheffield Thursday - Super Milk 4 : 0 Scorers: Mike Virgilio (37., 65.), Mark Byzewski (11.), Jason Zubris (33.) *** --- Booked: Marc McClure ***--- Super Milk had been strengthened before this match, but couldn't stand up to Owls that had decided to pull themselves together and play quality football for the Milwaukee Brewcrew. Still, the season is still young, and anything can happen for both teams.

DC Red Hot and Blues - Pocket Valley Philosophers 2 : 0 Scorers: Pablo D'Angelo (50., 66.) ***--- Booked: Boris Steppans, Brad Excel ***Thales EB: Pablo D'Angelo saved the day for DC Red Hot and kept them in the game for a chance at promotion.

Sleep Wanderers - Underdogs FC 1 : 0 Scorers: Cluracan (22.) ***--- Penalties: - ***- (2 missed) EB: Underdogs FC missed their chance at winning this match, when they missed both their penalty kicks. This match could've turned both ways, but the Night Terrors had more experience, and won in the end.

Kirkwood Showdown Match day 3 ======

Real Johto - Greensleeves United 6 : 0 Scorers: Jigglypuff (42., 57., 70.), Onix (9., 25.), Mareep (8.) ***--- Booked: Jigglypuff, Primeape ***--- EB: Real Johto needed a boost after the dreadful first round, and that's exactly what they got. A 6 goal win against the Greensleeves relighted their hopes for promotion.

Dummys - Ajax 2 : 0 Scorers: The Door Shut Properly (45.), Zwiebel (76.) ***--- EB: The Dummys continues their march towards glory and promotion by securing another homewin, this time against Ajax. The season is still young, so there's no reason to give up hope for Ajax. There's plenty of other teams to beat.

Andeby FK - Rosedale Quest 1 : 1 Scorers: Doffen Duck (49.) ***Crossbar Centaur (61.) Booked: Doffen Duck, Nabo Jensen ***--- EB: Two teams with 2 points after first round battled it out at Andeby Stadium. But it seems like this season, Andeby's homeground will haunt them. No wins so far at home. Rosedale Quest never missused their chances, and managed a safe draw away.

March of the Black Queen - Republican Party 3 : 0 Scorers: (19., 37.), (74.) ***--- Penalties: - ***- (1 missed) Booked: Bruno Conti, ***Colin Powell March of the Black Queen has already established themselves as a top team with two wins last weekend and several purchases, and continue to march forward with great success. The Republicans appear to be struggling with away field - we'll see how they fare when they return home for their next match. the Trumpet Bums - Flaaklypa FK 1 : 1 Scorers: Bob Breezy (24.) ***Rudolf Blodstrupmoen (41.) In Keith Mitchell's absence, the Trumpet Bums was bulldozed by Flaaklypa FK, but the Racers were terribly unlucky (are they absorbing the bad karma from the Weirdoes' good karma?), and could only claim one point.

Erkrath Gladiators - Twin Peaks Owls 1 : 1 Scorers: --- ***Dale Cooper (37.) Penalties: 1 (1 missed) ***- Sent off: Reinhold Grieselbeck (33.) ***Dale Cooper (90.) Booked: Dietmar Augustin, Edi 'Woodpecker' Abel ***Garland Briggs, One-Armed Man EB: Both teams fought to the death. They fought hard and long. And when the dust had settled and the players booked, the score was 1-1. Due to the rough play by both teams, two players got suspended. This can be fatal for the next round.

Kirkwood Showdown Match day 4 ======

Greensleeves United - Andeby FK 0 : 2 Scorers: --- ***Petter Smart (36.), Nabo Jensen (21.) Booked: Alister Fauxpas, Kenny Dixon ***Mikke Mus, Ole Duck, Petter Smart EB: Yet again Andeby wins away. When their players are as smart as Petter Smart (Gyro Gearloose), they are sure to beat the home advantage. Maybe they should figure how to use it themself. Greensleeves were unlucky once again, and will have difficulties keeping up within range of promotion. Unless offcourse, as many get promoted as last season. Ajax - the Trumpet Bums 2 : 2 Scorers: van Mul (3.), Sonck (32.) ***William Wettone (24.), Sam Squeeker (85.) It seems that Keith absent means lots of luck for the Trumpet Bums - Ajax dominated completely and should have had more than twice Trumpet's goals, but converted poorly, allowing the Trumpet Bums to equalize twice and get away with a very lucky point.

Twin Peaks Owls - Real Johto 2 : 3 Scorers: Garland Briggs (45.), Dale Cooper (60.) ***Mareep (18., 57.), Jigglypuff (20.) Penalties: - (1 missed) ***- Booked: --- ***Pikachu, Vileplume EB: Another surprise this round. Paul Riley seems to have had a serious talk with his team since last round. From 0 points to 4, and hopefully beyond. Twin Peaks still has a few tricks to learn, maybe it's time to bring out the big guns.

Flaaklypa FK - Erkrath Gladiators 3 : 0 Scorers: Emanuel Desperados (78.), Rudolf Blodstrupmoen (13.), Reodor Felgen (81.) ***--- Booked: --- ***Reinhold Grieselbeck, Willi Spannbach Thinking in Sibir and training in Trondheim proves a good recipe also for Flaaklypa, with this solid performance at Krokryggen. Perhaps the Lunatics need to visit Krasnoyarsk-26 to get charged up a little?

Rosedale Quest - March of the Black Queen 4 : 1 Scorers: Corner Flag Magi (21., 90.), Yellow Goal Elemental (8., 59.) *** (18.) Booked: --- ***, Giancarlo Antognoni EB: Before the match, Jan-Aage admited he was afraid of Rosedale Quest's new player, Yellow Goal Elemental, and he was right. Two goals did he score, and they only needed two against Black Knights so far unbeaten strategy. Both teams are still within range of promotion and glory.

Republican Party - Dummys 1 : 3 Scorers: --- ***The Door Shut Properly (77., 90.), Tomatoes (30.) Penalties: 1 ***- Booked: --- ***Mouldy Remnants Before this match, Dummys had three straight wins, and Jaka Gorjan wasn't stopping with that - a fourth was put in the bag, despite him needlessly resting Red Pepper which was back from suspension for this match. Good going!

14. GM's ramble

Another weekend of matches here! Next week, I can't adjudicate on Friday evening. I have a maths midterm on Saturday, and could do with some sleep and/or reading. I hope to have time to put one together later the same weekend though.

This week too I've had help from Espen with match comments – his comments are denoted by EB as last week.

Again, we had 47 teams submitted – it was not the same person who missed the deadline. Pretty good!

Currently in medal positions in Rosedale Open are Lower Tadfield Apocalypse, the Blitzball Team and Sale Savoyards, with 7, 6 and 5 points respectively. the Ancients and Saturday Morning FC both also have 5 points. In the relegation zone, we have Really New Bremen Cyberdruids with 3 points, Jedi Order with 2 points and Stranraer Reserves still without points. The luckiest team so far is Saturday Morning FC, and the unluckiest is Call of Cthulhu. All teams of the Rosedale Open submitted again.

Mishima Zaibatsu with 8, Dangermouse with 7 and Monkey Business with 6 points make up the promotion zone in Lexington League. Car Park Rangers follow closest with 5 points. At the bottom, we have Dead Dino Storage, Dial Square FC, Marvel Comics and Coventry, all with 2 points. The luckiest team of Lexington is Dangermouse, and the unluckiest is First Men of Rome. Again, all teams in the Lexington League submitted orders.

Sleep Wanderers are now alone at the top in Berkeley Conference, with 8 points. Batt in Blax and Lords follow closest, with 7 points apiece. Five teams have 2 points, and Super Milk are trailing slightly, with no points so far. The luckiest team of the division is Odd Athletics, and the unluckiest is Underdogs FC. This time, all teams in the Berkeley Conference submitted orders.

In Kirkwood Showdown, Dummys have a full set of 8 points and March of the Black Queen have 6 points. Flaaklypa FK, Rosedale Quest and Andeby FK tie for the last promotion spot at 5 points each. Greensleeves United with 2 points and the Republican Party with 1 point are struggling so far. The luckiest team so far is Andeby FK, and the unluckiest team is Ajax. 11 of the 12 Kirkwood teams submitted orders this round.

The home advantage is still 6 VP. In the next issue, matches 5 and 6 will be played, and the second round of the Rosedale Knockout.

The deadline for issue 4 is Saturday, October 23, at 1230 CET. Note that this is 15 hours later than usual – I'm giving you those hours extra considering I won't be around for that time. I do hope to get the Rosedale Sun out Saturday or Sunday.

I will send out your teams soon.
