Microsoft develops revised versions of the software program. The revised versions are referred to as upgrades . The upgrades add items to the program. The upgrades also retire items.

Added items:

• Enhancements to the User Interface. • Enhancements to the program itself.

Periodically, Microsoft releases new versions : (Example: Office 2013, Office 2016)

Excel is the world's most widely used spreadsheet software.

Excel has a basic core that is not affected by the Microsoft upgrades.

Therefore,

Much of the documentation written for Excel 2016 also applies to version 2013 and 2010.

However,

Versions of Excel released prior to Excel 2010…

Older versions of Excel will not easily adapt to documentation written for Excel 2016, Excel 2013, Excel 2010.
