[email protected] LOUNGE DENTAL SUITE, RAWTENSTALL: DESIGN & ACCESS STATEMENT MAY 2021 1.0 Introduction 1.1 Purpose and Format This design and access statement has been prepared on behalf of Lounge Dental Suite in support of the application for planning consent at: 1 Bacup Road and 2 Bury Road, Rawtenstall. The statement assesses and evaluates the site and its context, to record the local character and circumstances. It provides a description of the proposals and explains the principals and concepts that have informed the design development. 2.0 Location 2.1 Context Rawtenstall is a town in the borough of Rossendale, Lancashire and lies in the centre of the Rossendale Valley. Manchester is located 15 miles to the south, with Preston 22 miles to the West. Historically the town, like many of the small Lancashire towns, was known for its Cotton Mills and later hosted various shoemaking factories.
