East, Bonnyrigg has show solid improvement in recent weeks including a win against fierce rivals Sydney United 58. Club captain Ray Miller has been one of the reasons for Bonnyrigg’s improvement with the classy midfielder in fine form. Against APIA, Miller will need to continue that run of form with his ability to create for strikers Aaron Peterson and Dean Bereveskos key to breaking down a solid Tigers defence. APIA will be driven to bounce back after last week’s shock loss to Sydney United 58 which allowed Sydney Olympic lead frog them into top spot. After his incredible A-League grand final return with the Newcastle Jets, Ivan Necevski resumes his spot between the sticks for APIA which is a major boost for their defence. 1ST GRADE - NPL NSW MEN’S POS TEAM P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Sydney Olympic FC 9 7 1 1 15 7 8 22 2 APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC 9 6 1 2 22 10 12 19 3 Blacktown City FC 9 5 2 2 16 8 8 17 4 Sydney United 58 FC 9 5 0 4 15 11 4 15 5 Manly United FC 9 3 3 3 15 16 -1 12 6 Marconi Stallions FC 9 3 3 3 11 14 -3 12 7 Hakoah Sydney City East FC 9 3 2 4 15 13 2 11 8 Sutherland Sharks FC 9 3 2 4 14 15 -1 11 9 Wollongong Wolves FC 9 3 2 4 8 13 -5 11 10 Rockdale City Suns FC 9 2 2 5 16 24 -8 8 11 Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC 9 2 2 5 11 20 -9 8 12 Sydney FC 9 1 2 6 14 21 -7 5 5 MATCH REVIEWS #NPLNSW Hakoah Sydney City East 2 – Bonnyrigg White Eagles 0 at Hensley Athletic Field A second-half revival from Hakoah Sydney City East has helped them claim a hard fought 2-0 victory over Bonnyrigg White Eagles at Hensley Athletic Field on Sunday afternoon. Hakoah struggled to get it together in the first half but found their groove after the break with Michael Kouta netting a sublime free-kick to open the scoring for the home side. Kiwi international Andre De Jong wrapped up the result with a headed finish as Bonnyrigg were unable to match their solid derby performance from a week earlier. It was a key win for Hakoah who remain in the mix for finals football only two points outside the top five with 13 rounds yet to play. Sydney United 58 1 – APIA Leichhardt Tigers 0 at Sydney United Sports Centre Patrick Antelmi’s second half strike helped Sydney United 58 topple competition leaders APIA Leichhardt Tigers 1-0 in a fierce battle at Sydney United Sports Centre on Saturday evening. The former Wollongong striker clinched his fourth goal of the season twelve minutes after half time when he pounced on a long ball over the top before firing past APIA goalkeeper Blake Tuxford. NPL NSW frontrunners APIA Leichhardt had scored 15 goals in their previous four matches before the clash at Edensor Park but were unable to muster a response following Antelmi’s opener and were held scoreless for just the second time this campaign. Despite enjoying the more goal scoring opportunities Sydney United 58 were not at their clinical best, however the Reds will be buoyed enormously by what was a resolute defensive performance and all-round committed showing in the wake of back to back defeats to Hakoah Sydney City East and Bonnyrigg White Eagles. A third consecutive loss would have mounted concerns for United 58 who parted ways with head coach Jason Culina during the week but now find themselves four points behind the leaders after nine matches played. 6 NPLNSW.COM.AU TEAM OF THE WEEK 01: LARGE USE: OVER 150MM WIDE This logo has a smaller ‘®’ symbol FOOTBALL NSW WOULD LIKE TO THANK THEIR SPONSORS FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT 02: SMALL USE: 55MM - 150MM WIDE This logo has a larger ‘®’ symbol 7 #NPLNSW 2018 Nova Employment football4all Gala Day Sunday 1st July 2018 • 9am to 3pm Valentine Sports Park 235-257 Meurants Lane, Glenwood 2768 football4all is a Football NSW initiative introduced in 2008 aimed at giving people with a disability or special needs the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful day of football with family and friends at no expense.
