The island of trees at the heart of loch lomond Creinch Island, Loch Lomond Situation Lying in Scotland’s largest freshwater loch is Creinch Island. In the Spring the island is carpeted with wild garlic, hyacinths and wood anemones, and in summer the undergrowth grows densely. The island is a site of special scientific interest (SSSI). Creinch Island is located in the Southern area of Loch Lomond with the village of Balmaha to the east, providing the easiest point of access from the mainland to the island.
