The UK import brought their sound to Spokane on their US tour following the release of their frst studio album, Settle. Brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence have been driving the UK funky sound since 2010. In the years since Disclo- sure’s launch, they made it to the top of UK pop charts, secured a Grammy nomi- nation, and collaborated with many award-wining artists on a handful of singles and EPs. In Moscow, the closest venue for large electronic shows is Spokane’s Knit- ting Factory, where 1,500 ravers turn up to see the latest electronic artist make their way through the Northwest. Dis- closure brought their house party vibe to knit; a taste of future garage that is rarely seen this far from the UK. The gig opened with T. Williams, an iconic garage Producer and DJ who’s played for Resident Advisor Podcast and BBC Radio One in his 12 years of DJing. Williams’ set the stage for Disclosure, playing his club edit of Disclosure’s sin- gle Latch, alongside many other Garage Funk choones. Disclosure’s set went of in a much diferent fashion than most EDM raves held at the Knit. No one was tearing out hair to intense drops that push the limit of the venue’s system. People were actually dancing, and it felt like a party. The vibes were positive, the drinks were cold, and the hugs were free as they should be.

ryan franz kuoi With an eight-year break out of the studio, Daft Punk defnitely showed that they could “Bring Life Back to Music,” with their album Ran- dom Access Memories. In the KUOI studio the review given to the album says, “They have disco fever circa 1979. Disco should stay DEAD. However, Daft Punk of- fers plenty for the modern dance foor and they continue to straddle the Atlantic Ocean with ease. Both Europe and the States get something to groove to.” This review is a great start to what this album is but it does not grasp all the way what this al- bum means to the music community and to me nae hakala | kuoi as a listener. The main stage headliners are insane this year, but here are some more bands that will give you your money’s worth. Oh yeah, and they’re all friends of KUOI. Royal Rumble? More Like Bootista!

luis torres kuoi Oh the Royal Rumble, considered one of the four major PPVs of the WWE sure did got de- stroyed by the Pittsburgh audience on January 26th. You may wonder why I’m covering a sport that’s pre-determined and storyline driven? Well, I’m not happy about many things that came out of the event, especially the WWE title and the 30-man over the top rope Royal Rumble match. It started of with a bang when Daniel Bryan from Aberdeen, WA, one of the most popular com- petitors today tore the house down against Bray Wyatt, the leader of a backwoods cult known as the Wyatt Family. After that, the rest went down- hill except for Brock Lesnar annihilating the Big Show with 27 steel chair shots on the back. And of course, Roman Reigns’ phenomenal performance at the Royal Rumble as he broke Kane’s record set in 2001 of 12 eliminations in a single match. But ava nora | kuoi the rest was a fail! Nobody really cared (including myself) about the 18th PPV encounter of John Cena and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton. Even Tom Brady and Peyton Manning haven’t faced each other that many times. The feud was a poor build up, in fact the entire PPV had no build up except Bryan’s feud with Wyatt which has been a common problem in the WWE and that’s very bad. So the Mother yeti crowd began chanting “We want Angle (Kurt An- ava nora and full face melt.
