Everyone agrees that prayer is important to the spiritual life of the believer. A. Some of the things that have been said about prayer. God does nothing on earth save in answer to believing prayer. –John Wesley We are living in dangerous times and if there was ever a time when we need to pray, it is now. More can be done by prayer than anything else, prayer is our greatest weapon. –Billy Graham Prayer is invading the impossible. • FIFTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST Servant Leadership July 5, 2020 10:00 A.M. We Extend a Special Welcome to Those Who Are Joining Us
FIFTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST Servant Leadership July 5, 2020 10:00 a.m. We extend a special welcome to those who are joining us for our live stream on this Lord’s Day as guests and friends. Come, let us worship our Risen Lord! SHARING COMMUNION DURING THIS TIME OF SEPARATION While the Lord’s Supper is designed to be a shared meal, we are going to celebrate it “together in separation.” This morning we will celebrate the sacrament during our live stream worship service. The pastor will share the liturgy for the sacrament during our time of worship. So this is what we are inviting you to do prior to the service: • Prepare your own bread and cup. (Any bread and juice you have on hand will do.) • Prepare a place at your table, just as we will prepare the Lord’s table in the Sanctuary. • Perhaps light a candle or open your Bible to the Scripture we will read during the service. • Most importantly, prayerfully ready yourself to participate in the service and receive the gift of the Sacrament. PRELUDE David Cantwell, piano WELCOME CALL TO WORSHIP Rev. L. John Gable Leader: How good and pleasant it is when people live together in unity. People: It is like precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard and over the collar of the robe. Leader: It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion. People: For there the Lord ordained His blessing, life forevermore. Unison: In the unity of faith, let us worship the God of our salvation.

We are amazed by the God who has created all that is, and who is the engineer or crafter of the cosmos, designing and assembling all the details. But we also know from science that the details of organisms change through time according to their situations – that is, they evolve through adaptation and natural selection. Some people take this to mean that there is no role for God in the evolution of life on our planet, but they miss the point that it is through God’s love and humility that the processes of nature operate, bringing growth and adaptive change.
