BAM Presents in a 30th Anniversary Celebration of her legendary album, Horses

Nov 30 & Dec 1 concerts feature rare, complete live performances of Smith’s debut album and other favorites

Brooklyn, NY, Oct 11, 2005—On November 30 & December 1, BAM proudly presents Patti Smith in concert at the Howard Gilman Opera House. Smith—joined by band members Lenny Kaye (guitar), Jay Dee Daugherty (drums), Tony Shanahan (bass), Television founder Tom Verlaine (guitar), and special guest Flea from the —will celebrate the 30th anniversary of her highly influential debut album, Horses, in rare, complete live performances. The events mark Smith’s BAM debut. Patti Smith and her band, and BAM, will donate a portion of the concerts’ proceeds to Gulf Coast hurricane relief organizations.

The concerts will take place at BAM’s Howard Gilman Opera House (30 Lafayette Ave). Tickets, priced at $20, 35, 40, and 45, may be purchased by calling BAM Ticket Services (718.636.4100) or by visiting www.BAM.org.

Horses, released in November 1975, was produced by and continues to wield an unparalleled influence on , style, and culture. To coincide with the 30th anniversary of Horses, Arista/Columbia/ will release a two-disc set entitled Horses/Horses on Nov 8. Disc one features the remastered original album; disc two features Patti Smith and her band performing the album live at London’s Royal Festival Hall as part of the 2005 Festival (which was curated by Patti Smith).

General Information BAM Howard Gilman Opera House, BAM Rose Cinemas, BAMcafé, and Shakespeare & Co. BAMshop are located in the Peter Jay Sharp building at 30 Lafayette Avenue (between St Felix Street and Ashland Place) in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn. BAM Harvey Theater is located two blocks from the main building at 651 Fulton Street (between Ashland and Rockwell Places). BAM Rose Cinemas is Brooklyn’s only movie house dedicated to first-run independent and foreign film and repertory programming. BAMcafé, operated by Great Performances, also features an eclectic mix of spoken word and live music on Friday and Saturday nights. A $21 three-course dinner at BAMcafé is available Thu-Sat for BAM Rose Cinemas ticket holders (day of screening only). BAMcafé is open Thursday-Saturday from 5pm-closing. Additionally, BAMcafé is open two hours prior to all Howard Gilman Opera House and Harvey Theater performances.
