ALVARADO DIET

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan, adopted by the City Council in 2018, recommends buffered bike on Alvarado from Davis Street to Fremont Blvd. A portion of Alvarado Street, from Fairway Drive to Fremont Blvd will receive a new pavement seal this year and the travel lanes will be restriped as part of this work.

This segment of Alvarado Street currently consists of two travel lanes in each direction, a two-way left Exhibit A turn center , and no bike lanes. It will be San Leandro before Bike Lanes re-striped with one travel lane in each direction, a two-way left turn center lane, and buffered bike lanes on each side of the street. Staff has evaluated the volume of on this road segment and determined that the travel lanes can be reduced from two to one in each direction without significant impact to traffic flow. Note also that both Alvarado Ave north of Fairway Drive and Fremont Blvd south of the project contain only one travel lane in each direction. This planned change was reviewed by the Council Facilities Committee Exhibit B on September 4, 2019. San Leandro Boulevard after Bike Lanes
