Cooksons Court is located in the market town of Yeovil. A bit of history Taking its name from the River Yeo, Yeovil is a market town and civil parish in the district of South Somerset. Mentioned in the Domesday Book as Givele or Ivle, and located on an old Roman Road, Yeovil has a long history with evidence of a small Roman town having been found on the Westland site. The Black Death killed about half of the population during the 14th century and in 1499, and again later in the 17th century, the town was affected by a number of major fires. Yeovil was associated with the glove-making industry during the 1800s and later in the 20th century, became an centre for the aircraft and defence industries, making it a target for bombing in the Second World War. Today AgustaWestland still manufacture helicopters here and is a major employer in the town. Local information
