This guide cannot possibly cover every regulatory standard that may apply to fire departments but does provide a wealth of information to assist employers with providing a safe and healthful work environment. Grant Funding Declaration The 23(g) State and Local Government Plan is funded by a federal grant which constitutes fifty percent of the overall budget. Fifty percent is financed by State funds. Clarification on Fire Department and Fire District Illinois OSHA understands the similarities and differences between a municipal fire department and a fire protection district, however, for the purposes of simplicity the term “fire department” will be used in this guide to reference both types of fire protection organizations.
