  • Two Blue Crabs Earn Atlantic League's Monthly Awards
Two Blue Crabs Earn Atlantic League's Monthly Awards Posted by TBN On 08/06/2010 The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball has announced that right-handed starter Dan Reichert has been named the Pitcher of the Month for July, and first baseman Eric Crozier is Co-Player of the Month with Aaron Herr of the Lancaster Barnstormers and Ramon Castro of the York Revolution. Both are the third baseman for their respective clubs. Reichert (11-7) leads the league in wins and is second in strikeouts with 99. In July, Reichert went 3-1 with a 2.46 ERA in five starts. On July 27 Reichert pitched seven shutout innings in a 4-0 win over the Bridgeport Bluefish at Regency Furniture Stadium in Southern Maryland. He also pitched for the Liberty Division in the Atlantic League All-Star Game on July 6 at Suffolk County Sports Park in Central Islip, NY. A 14-year veteran, Reichert has five seasons of Major League experience, predominantly with the Kansas City Royals but most recently with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2003, appearing in 124 games and 51 starts in the Majors after being drafted seventh overall by Kansas City in 1997. Crozier was spectacular in July, hitting .349 with five home runs and a team-best 19 RBI in 24 games. He also led the Blue Crabs in triples (4), walks (16) and on base percentage (.465) in that time. Crozier is second in the league with 15 homers, and third on the team with a .291 average. Along with Reichert, Crozier participated in his first Atlantic League All-Star Game this season after being voted in last season, but was unable to play last year, due to being the first Blue Crab to be signed by the Baltimore Orioles.
