The Maribyrnong catchment includes areas of signifi cant value where Aboriginal people have lived for thousands of years. Archaeological evidence in the Maribyrnong River Valley demonstrates that Aboriginal people lived in this region for at least 17,000 years. The region is home to one of Australia’s most important archaeological sites, the Sunbury Earth Rings, an area of Aboriginal cultural and ceremonial signifi cance.
