Background It was released on June 13, 2006 and is his first album without his Signature Dreadlocks he had for most of his career as he switched a new look with a shaved head. Recommended guests include Us, Stevie Wonder, Rick James, Kelis, Raekwon, Eminem and more. The album released five singles: Touch It, Touch It Remix, I Love My, New York and In the Ghetto. Receiving Professional RatingsAggregate RatingsSource:64/100)/10) 3'Okplayer (83/100) Music tracks I'll Hurt You featuring Eminem and Where's Your Money? featuring Ol' Dirty Bastard leaked but received warm responses. The first single was Touch It and reached number sixteen on the Billboard Hot 100. Touch It with the sampled part of Daft Punk's Technology also received a major remix. The second single I Love My Chick features And will.i.am. Stevie Wonder plays the piano and sings on Been Through the Storm. The song Get Down was featured in Step Up 2: The Streets, but was not included in the soundtrack. Busta Rhymes was very pleased with the album: I wouldn't change The Big Bang album for the world. It's still one of my, if not my favorite album from a lyrical point of view, conceptual perspective and musical point of view. He praised Dr. Dre's song Legends of the Fall Off for gravediggin beat with a shovel in the mud, calling it incredible. He also praised You Can't Hold the Torch, Don't Get Carried Away and Gold Mine. He also said: The only thing I probably would have changed, I love my chick wouldn't be on this album. I would probably put I Love My Chick on another album that would be more appropriate for. The song Legend of the Fall Offs received additional notice from hip-hop fans, especially for its production. Mitch Findlay of hnhh said: While hardly a banger in the traditional sense, Dre proves why he's one of hip-hop's most cinematic producers, deftly arranging Foley-esque heartbeats and shovels into the mix. Once again, the line between hip-hop and horror is blurred, though few will quickly hit either Busta or Dre with a horror label. However, The Legend of Fall Offs seems to have made for an equally disturbing visual component. But why is such a simple blow so evocative? Is it a melodic structure that uses the repetitive use of the same multiple notes? For some reason, the sound of the lowest octave of the piano seems to evoke a deep sense of hopelessness. Dr. Dre understands that better than most. On his Dr. Dre's Top 10 haunting beats, he said: Masterclass in minimalism, Dr. Dre closed Busta Rhyme's Aftermath debut of the Big Bang in a really disturbing way. Spelling images of the lunar cemetery, Busta plays the role of death itself, revealing gloomy views for those who have already lost. With shovel-making for a major percussion track, Dre's steady piano and cricket-fueled atmosphere cast a spell of existential fear. Throw in a man legitimately pleading for his life in vain, and Legend of fall offs makes for a dark song in Bust's career. Dan Weiss of Billboard magazine said: Dr. Dre watched Busta's semi-return in 2006's The Big Bang, which ends with an inspired horror play that uses Dre's dirgelike tendencies to his advantage. While Busta buries an unnamed rival in thick subconscious diss, the beat itself literally consists of shovels and dirt, followed by a rather terrifying sketch in which Busta buries the dude alive as the instrumental foreshadowed all the time. Gangsta bloodshed is rarely that exciting or interesting, and eventually this track could've taken on much larger dimensions if like Eminem was at the helm, but hip hop has never seen anything like it before or since, and that only makes it totally busta. The commercial performance of the album was Busta's first and only album, debuting at number one on the charts with more than 209,000 copies sold during the first week of release. On August 30, 2006, the album received gold certification for deliveries of more than 500,000 units. On November 22, 2011, the album sold 823,000 copies, and the album became the highest Busta Rhymes album in the UK, debuting at number nineteen on the UK album chart. His previous highest album #3 for The Disaster Strikes, almost a decade before the release of The Big Bang. Track listing Big BangNo.TitleWriter (s)Producer (s)Length1.
