The Armory Show is New York’s premier art fair and a definitive cultural destination for discovering and collecting the world’s most important 20th- and 21st-century artworks. The evening reception, along with the daytime Early Access Preview at Piers 92 and 94, benefits MoMA's exhibition programming. A VIP Hour, held from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m., includes access to The Long Run and Tarsila do Amaral: Inventing Modern Art in Brazil, in addition to The Armory Party at 9:00 p.m. On view from November 11, 2017, through November 4, 2018, The Long Run chronicles the continued experimentation of artists long after their breakthrough moments, suggesting that invention results from sustained critical thinking, persistent observation, and countless hours in the studio. Tarsila do Amaral, on view from February 11 through June 3, 2018, is the first exhibition in the United States exclusively devoted to the artist and features nearly 120 artworks, including paintings, drawings, sketchbooks, photographs, and other historical documents drawn from collections across Latin America, Europe, and the United States. BØRNS will perform a live set in the Museum’s Agnes Gund Garden Lobby. BØRNS released his debut album Dopamine in 2015 to rave reviews with the Associated Press calling it “some of the most heartfelt electronic-based music in recent memory,” while Spin noted that BØRNS “writes brilliant pop songs that worm their way into your heart in an instant.” Following the smash success of platinum-selling single “Electric Love” BØRNS has performed at major festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo, in addition to headlining a sold-out theater tour in 2016. ABOUT THE ARMORY SHOW: The Armory Show is New York’s premier art fair and a definitive cultural destination for discovering and collecting the world’s most important 20th- and 21st-century artworks. Staged on Piers 92 and 94, among the city’s industrial gems, the fair features presentations by leading international galleries, innovative artist commissions, and dynamic public programs. Since its founding in 1994, The Armory Show has served as a nexus for the international art world, inspiring dialogue, discovery, and patronage in the visual arts. The Armory Show was founded by four New York gallerists—Colin de Land, Pat Hearn, Matthew Marks, and Paul Morris—who sought a platform to present and promote new voices in the visual arts. In its 24 years, The Armory Show has stayed firm in its mission while establishing itself as an unmissable art event set in the heart of New York City and welcoming over 65,000 visitors annually. The 2019 edition will feature some 200 exhibitors from 31 countries worldwide; the acclaimed Armory Show VIP Program, an engaging and lively conversation series entitled Armory Live; and a number of citywide events and openings as part of Armory Arts Week. The relationship between The Armory Show and MoMA dates back to 2001, the year in which the fair dedicated its opening day to the Museum and in which the Pat Hearn and Colin de Land Acquisition Fund at The Museum of Modern Art was founded. The Armory Party at MoMA was also first held in 2001 and continues to be a much-anticipated annual art event, reflective of the deep partnership between both institutions and their shared commitment to Armory Arts Week. The Armory Show 2018 is open to the public from March 8 to March 11. Hours are noon to 8:00 p.m on Thursday and Friday, noon to 7:00 on Saturday, and noon to 6:00 on Sunday.
