Identifying metro Melbourne restricted postcodes This tool is to help businesses identify metropolitan Melbourne postcodes. The Gippsland Local Government Network (GLGN) is an alliance of six Gippsland Councils who work collaboratively on a range of issues and projects of mutual interest. The six GLGN Councils include: Bass Coast Shire Council, Baw Baw Shire Council, East Gippsland Shire Council, Latrobe City Council, South Gippsland Shire Council and Wellington Shire Council. Together, these Gippsland Councils equate for more than a third of rural and regional Victoria. This submission is in addition to the individual responses lodged by Bass Coast Shire Council and Wellington Shire Council. It is intended to complement these previous submissions. The following comments summarise the issues that GLGN feel are important to the whole of Gippsland and consider essential for address within the inquiry. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Background Bass Coast Shire is the fastest growing local government area in Gippsland with the resident population of about 30,000, increasing to over 70,000 during peak holiday periods (www.forecast.id.com.au). The area also attracts visitors to Philip Island Nature Parks and the Motor Cycle Grand Prix and is well renowned for its special natural environment, with eco-tourism opportunities and major motorsports events attracting millions of visitors every year. The generation of waste is expected to increase in the future in line with projected population increases, which has been predicted to rise to approximately 45,000 by 2031, an increase of approximately 42%. This, coupled with a number of identified waste management challenges and issues provides significant drivers for consideration of a new waste management strategic direction and sustainability initiatives across the Shire. Purpose The Waste Management Strategy (WMS) has been developed as part of the commitment Bass Coast Shire Council has made to provide sustainable solutions for the collection, disposal and resource recovery from waste generated within the community. The Strategy’s main purpose is to guide the management of waste over the next 10 years, 2015 - 2025. -

Spanning approximately 2,500 square kilometres, the municipality stretches from the densely populated outer suburbs up into the surrounding foothills, agricultural valleys and forested areas of the Great Dividing Range. It is one of Victoria's largest, most varied and scenic municipalities. There are more than 55 suburbs, townships, small communities and rural areas in the Yarra Ranges. The Energy Efficiency in my Street: Reducing energy use in Yarra Ranges one street at a time project set out to upgrade old and inefficient streetlights in specific disadvantaged communities across the municipality. Apart from improving the amenity of local streets, the project sought to demonstrate that investing in energy efficiency can be an effective way of reducing day to day running costs. -

Local plumbing regulators in NSW On-site plumbing and drainage compliance and inspections This document outlines who performs the functions of the plumbing regulator in NSW. Under the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2011 NSW Fair Trading is the plumbing regulator in New South Wales. The Plumbing Code of Australia is the technical standard for compliance throughout NSW. It is the responsibility of the plumbing regulator in each area to set requirements for inspections of on-site plumbing and drainage. Fair Trading’s area of operation includes all areas in which properties are provided with services (either drinking water, recycled water or a sewerage service) by Sydney Water Corporation or Hunter Water Corporation. This area of operation stretches from Gerringong in the south (the Illawarra), to Newcastle, Port Stephens and Dungog in the north (the Hunter), and west to Mount Victoria (Blue Mountains). The function of the plumbing regulator has been delegated by Fair Trading to local councils, county councils, or other qualified bodies. The delegation of the function has been accepted by local and county councils across NSW, with a small number of exceptions where the council declined the delegation. Below are two tables identifying the local authority for plumbing regulator functions, including conducting inspections, throughout NSW by local government area.
