Emmanuelle Haim Dirección y clavecín - Francia nició sus estudios de piano con Ivonne Lefébure y posteriormente estudió órgano con André Isoir. Sin embargo su instrumento preferido pasó a ser el clavecín, que estudió con Kenneth Gilbert y Christophe Rousset, trabajando la escritura y el bajo continuo. Posee una gran formación musical y obtuvo en el Conservatorio Nacional Superior de Música de París cinco primeros premios y un segundo premio por unanimidad del jurado. El interés demostrado por la expresión vocal la llevó a consagrarse a la dirección de canto, inicialmente en el Estudio ·de la Ópera de Versalles y más tarde en el Conservatorio Nacional Superior de Música de París (CNSMDP) donde es profesora de repertorio barroco para cantantes. Ha desarrollado rápidamente una actividad regular como continuista y asistente musical en óperas, lo que la ha llevado a adquirir una experiencia única en los repertorios barroco y clásico. Así, ha tenido ocasión de actuar frecuentemente junto a William Christie, Christophe Rousset, Marc Minkowski, Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle y Daniel Harding en los escenarios más importantes de París, Londres, Madrid Aix-en-Provence, Salzburgo Beaune, Estocolmo, Lisboa Helsinki, Amberes, Sidney y Tokio. Dirigió la ópera Rodelinda de G. F. Handel con el Glyndebourne Touring Opera, en Inglaterra. Es directora de Le Concert D'Astrée, agrupación fundada en el 2000 con la cual ha desarrollado una intensa actividad de conciertos en Francia en prestigiosas salas como la de los Champs Elysées y en Festivales como el de Poitiers y el Festival de Música Barroca de Beaune. Según el repertorio Le Concert D'Astrée tiene formato de pequeña 2 o gran orquesta. Le Concert D'Astrée acaba de firmar contrato de exclusividad con el sello EMI-Virgin Classic, y acaba de realizar la primera grabación de este contrato, con las Cantatas y dúos virtuosos, para lo cual contó con la colaboración de diez catantes dentro de los cuales figuran Juanita Lascarro y Brian Asawa. A los ocho años cOlnenzó estudio de iolonchelo con Maurice Farre y luego los continuó en el Conservatorio Nacional con Marcel Bardon. Muy pronto se interesó por la interpretación en instrumentos antiguos y partió a La Haya para trabaj ar con Richte Van der Meer y Anner Bylsma~ entre otros. Estudió también historia de la música y de la estética en el Conservatorio Superior de París y entró en 1998 a la clase de Christophe Coin. En aquella institución obtu o varios primeros premios. Desde entonce , Paul Carlioz empezó a ser in itado por William Christie para participar en varias producciones de Les Arts Florissants, y simultáneamente inició su carrera de recitalista. Colabora con varias orquesta extranjera y combina us acti idades con su pasión por el fortepiano. Toca en un in trumento alemán de la E cuela de Jacobus Stainer (c. 1730). Entre sus papeles operáticos más aplaudidos figuran los de Fiorilla (El turco en Italia) y el protagónico de Pelléas el Mélisa nde, que ha cantado en La Monnaie de- París; Euridice (L 'Or/eo) con la Ópera de los Países Bajos y el Festival de Aix-en-Provence bajo la dirección de René Jacobs; Barbarina y Susana (Las bodas de Fígaro), Oberto Digitalizado por la Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango del Banco de la República, Colombia. (Alcino). Frasquita (Carmen) y First Flower Maiden (Pars(j'al . t d con la Óp ra d la Bastilla. y Papagena (Laflau/a mágica). Despina (Cosi Jan tZlfte) y Atalanta ()(erxes) con la Ópera de Colonia, Liu (Turandot) para la Ópera Nacional de Gales. Aura (Celos aún del aire matan) para el Teatro Real de Madrid, Didone (La Didone de Ca\'alli) para Teatre de Lausanne, y Xenia (Borí Godunov) para el Het Muzikteater Ám terdam. Con la Ópera de Colombia ha personificado a Adina (Elixir de amor), Susana (Las hodas de Fígaro), Micaela (Carmen) y Julieta (Romeo y JlIlieta). Del repertorio no operático se destacan sus actuaciones en el Réquiem de Fauré y el S/abat Mater de Pergolesi con la Orque ta Filarmónica de Israel dirigida por Antonio Pappano; en Lieder de Richard Strauss bajo la dirección de Lothar Zagrosek en la Gewandhaus de Leipzig; en la cuarta sinfonía de Gustav Mahler dirigida por Vladimir 5 Ashkenazy~ en la ersión de concierto de ParsifaL bajo la batuta de James Conlon~ en la segunda sinfonía de Mahler con la Orquesta Filarmónica Real dirigida por Michiyoshi rnoue en el Royal Albert Hall de Londres; en los prestigiosos Prom de esta misma ciudad, dirigida por Markus Stenz (El mar de Plata de Kurt Weill), las cuatro últimas canciones de Strauss con Christopher Warren­ Green en Suecia, las Bachiannas Brasileiras con los chelistas de la orquesta filarmónica de Berlín en un Prom, y en el papel de la princesa en la versión de concierto de El niño y los sortilegios con la Orquesta Sinfónica de la BBC dirigida por Andrew Davis. Como recitalista ha actuado en el Festival de Bath, del cual fue Artista en Residencia en los festivales de Steensgard y Bad Wildungen el festival de música de cámara de Cork, en el Wigmore Hall de Londres y en la Sala Luis Ángel Arango de Bogotá.     2016 – 2017 season marks Les Talens Lyriques’ 25th anniversary Operas by Purcell, Cavalli, Charpentier, Salieri, Mozart, Handel & Monteverdi Culminating in his debut at London’s Royal Opera House for Mozart’s Mitridate in June next year, Christophe Rousset embarks on a rich season of opera with Les Talens Lyriques - from Purcell, Cavalli, Handel, Monteverdi and Mozart to forgotten masterpieces by Charpentier, Salieri and Pergolesi, to mark their 25th anniversary. From Israel to Italy, Spain to Lithuania, Rousset’s infectious enthusiasm for the baroque is in high demand. With Les Talens Lyriques at the Theater an der Wien, Rousset presents the modern premiere of Salieri’s Les Horaces in concert in October (also Versailles) and a new production of Purcell’s Fairy Queen by Mariame Clément in January. Further new productions include Pergolesi’s San Guglielmo d’Aquitania by Francesco Nappa in Iesi, Italy, Mozart’s Magic Flute in Dijon in a direction by David Lescot and Cavalli’s Calisto in Strasburg directed by Mariame Clement, following their success in Rameau’s Platée and Castor & Pollux six years ago. The revival of Pierre Audi’s Monteverdi Madrigals in Amsterdam continues to Brighton Festival as part of Les Talens Lyriques’ multiple visits to the UK this season. The season opens with an Italian tour to Pergolesi’s birthplace in Jesi for a new production of his oratorio San Guglielmo, Duca d’Aquitania, a quasi-opera replete with comic monk to be staged by Francesco Nappa on 9 and 11 September. Our 4th season is another ambitious season on the heels of a very successful 2017 season. We are extremely grateful to our audience members, artists, donors, and the many volunteers who help put together this upcoming season. We continue to focus on bringing high-quality live music programming and performing arts to the Sunset district of San Francisco, adding to the cultural milieu of San Francisco in these extremely challenging times. Some of the highlights of the new season include performances by both returning artists as well as many new artists. In 2018 we have an expanded instrumental series, a strong chamber music and vocal series, and an expanded Jazz/Folk series as well. We are especially proud to partner with our artists- in-residence, the San Francisco Renaissance Voices (director Katherine McKee) and other groups like the San Francisco Boys Chorus, the San Francisco Girls Chorus, and the Bay Shore Lyric Opera company. In addition to concerts we also continue with our community events with travelogues, student recitals, and workshops. In 2018 we are proud to collaborate with the Phoenix Recital Symposium of San Francisco (Professor Sylvia Anderson, General and Artistic Director), to showcase up and coming opera singers as they prepare for a career in opera. Dear Friends, It is a great honor and joy for me to present Songfest 2005 at Pepperdine University once again this summer. In our third year of residence at this beautiful ocean-side Malibu campus, Songfest has grown to encompass an ever-widening circle of inspiration and achievement. Always focusing on the special relationship between singer and pianist, we have moved on from our unique emphasis on recognized masterworks of art song to exploring the varied and rich American Song. We are once again privileged to have John Harbison with us this summer. He has generously donated a commission to Songfest – Vocalism – to be premiered on the June 19 concert. Our singers and pianists will be previewing his new song cycle on poems by Milosz. Each time I read these beautiful poems, I am reminded why we love this music and how our lives are enriched. What an honor and unique opportunity this is for Songfest.

    SAN FRANCISCO OPERA CENTER ANNOUNCES 2020 ADLER FELLOWS SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 31, 2019) — San Francisco Opera Center Director Sheri Greenawald today announced the 12 recipients of the 2020 San Francisco Opera Adler Fellowship. Selected from participants of the Merola Opera Program, the ten singers and two pianists/apprentice coaches begin their fellowships in January 2020. The performance-oriented residency offers advanced young artists intensive individual training, coaching and professional seminars, as well as a wide range of performance opportunities. Since its inception in 1977, the prestigious fellowship has nurtured the development of more than 180 young artists, introducing many budding stars to the international opera stage and launching active careers throughout the world as performers, production artists, arts professionals and educators. The singers selected as 2020 Adler Fellows are sopranos Anne-Marie MacIntosh (Langley, British Columbia, Canada), Elisa Sunshine (San Clemente, California) and Esther Tonea (Buford, Georgia); mezzo-soprano Simone McIntosh (Vancouver, Canada); tenors Zhengyi Bai (Linyi, China), Christopher Colmenero (Burlington, Vermont), Christopher Oglesby (Woodstock, Georgia) and Victor Starsky (Queens, New York); baritone Timothy Murray (Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin); and bass Stefan Egerstrom (Brooklyn Center, Minnesota). Anne-Marie MacIntosh, Elisa Sunshine, Esther Tonea, Victor Starsky, Timothy Murray and Stefan Egerstrom are incoming first-year fellows. 2019 Adlers Simone McIntosh, Zhengyi Bai, Christopher Colmenero and Christopher Oglesby continue in the program as second-year fellows. 1 The pianists selected for Apprentice Coach Fellowships are first-year fellow Andrew King (Syracuse, New York) and returning second-year Adler Kseniia Polstiankina Barrad (Kyiv, Ukraine). This is our 3rd season and in our short history this is the most ambitious season ever. Since the beginning, our artistic mission has been to present local and international artists who are acclaimed in chamber music, vocal and instrumental recitals, jazz and theater/opera, all at an affordable price. We also wanted to bring high-quality music programming and performing arts to the Sunset district of San Francisco. We are proud of the relationships we have forged between us and the artists, as wells as between the artists and you, our audience, and of the many donors and partnerships that has helped make Sunset Music & Arts a cultural hub in the Sunset district and the San Francisco Bay area. Some of the highlights of the new season include performances by several returning artists as well as many new artists. We are especially proud to add a piano recital series and a choral series to our programming. Heading the piano series is pianist-composer Eric Tran and pianist Robyn Carmichael. Our choral series features the Monaco Boys Choir, Masterworks Serenade (director Dr. Bryan Baker), and the San Francisco Renaissance Voices (director Katherine McKee). We are also proud to announce a 3-part ‘East meets West’ series that feature musicians who uniquely meld music from Western and Eastern classical traditions to produce unique new compositions. Artists include violinist Lucian Balmer, sitarist Joanna Mack, tabla percussionist Josh Mellinger, bansuri master Deepak Ram, and Carnatic vocalist Gautam Ganeshan.

    Gary Gray Professor--Clarinet Music Office: 306 Ostin Music Building office: (310) 825-8169 [email protected] GARY GRAY studied clarinet with Robert McGinnis and chamber music with Janos Starker at Indiana University, where he obtained his Master’s degree in Woodwinds. He also studied clarinet with Mitchell Lurie at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. He was Assistant Principal in the St. Louis Symphony and later won first prize in the San Francisco Symphony Foundation Competition. Mr. Gray is Principal Clarinetist of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and Faculty Artist/Clarinet Professor at the University of California at Los Angeles. His concerto appearances include the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Aspen Chamber Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony and the Indianapolis Symphony, among others; and he has collaborated with Aaron Copland, Elliot Carter, Benjamin Britten, Malcolm Arnold, Pierre Boulez and Igor Stravinsky. For many summers a Faculty Artist at the Aspen Music Festival, Mr. Gray is active in chamber music festivals in the U.S., England, France and Japan, and has performed with such artists as Itzhak Perlman, Mischa Dichter, James Levine, Brooks Smith, Milton Thomas and the Cleveland and Angeles Quartets. He has recorded both solo and chamber music for the Nonesuch, RCA, Laureland Vox labels, and has given Master Classes at USC, San Francisco State College and the Royal College of Music, London, among others. Mr. Gray has been a member/performer of the Pacific Serenades chamber music series since its inception in Los Angeles 15 years ago, and performed with them at Carnegie Hall in 1994.
