LEXANDER FAIRWEATHER, at one time Merchant in Kirriemuir, afterwards resident at Newport, Dundee, about the year 1874, wrote this Memorandum, or History ; to which he proudly affixed the following lines : " Our name and ancestry renowned or no, Free from dishonour, 'tis our pride to show." As his memorandum exists only in manuscript, and so might easily be lost, I proprose to re-edit it for printing ; with such notes, and corrections as I can furnish. Mr. Fairweather had sound literary tastes, and was a keen archaeologist and genealogist ; upon which subjects he brought to bear a considerable amount of critical acumen. The deep interest he took in everything connected with his family and surname naturally endeared him to all his kin while, unfailing geniality and lively intelligence, made him a wide circle of attached friends, ! ; 6 I only met him once, when he visited Jersey in 1876 where I happened to be quartered, with the Royal Artillery, and where he sought me out. -

In 1320 the Declaration of Arbroath, also known as the Scottish Declaration of Independence was signed. It is recognised by millions of Scots at home and abroad as the most treasured document in Scottish history. -

These accounts were written by the ministers of the time and, together with snippets from other books such as Alex Warden’s “Angus or Forfarshire – The Land and People”, form the core of our knowledge of the Parish’s past. In the last 50 years the Parish and its people have undergone many rapid and significant changes. These have come about through local government reorganisations, easier forms of personal transport and the advent of electricity, but above all, by the massive changes in farming. Dwellings, which were once farmhouses or cottages for farm-workers, have been sold and extensively altered. New houses have been built and manses, and even mansion houses, have been converted to new uses. What used to be a predominantly agricultural community has now changed forever. The last full Statistical Account was published in 1951, with revisions in 1967. -

Agenda Item No 3 Report No LB64/09 ANGUS LICENSING BOARD – 28 OCTOBER 2009 PERSONAL LICENCES – DELEGATED REPORT BY THE CLERK ABSTRACT The purpose of this Report is to advise members of applications for a Personal Licence under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 which have been granted by the Clerk to the Licensing Board in accordance with the Scheme of Delegation appended to the Licensing Policy. 1. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Board note the licences granted under delegated authority as detailed in the attached Appendix. 2. BACKGROUND In terms of the Scheme of Delegation to Officers detailed in Appendix 1, paragraph 3.3 of Angus Licensing Board Statement of Licensing Policy, the Clerk to the Licensing Board is authorised to grant certain applications in connection with certain licences received under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005. Paragraph 3.3(i) of Appendix 1 to said Policy states that the Clerk can decide:- “any application for a Personal Licence or renewal of a Personal Licence where the applicant has not been convicted of a relevant or foreign offence“. Attached as an Appendix to this Report is a list of Personal Licences granted under Delegated Authority during the period 2 September 2009 to 13 October 2009. 3. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS There are no financial implications arising from this Report. 4. HUMAN RIGHTS IMPLICATIONS There are no Human Rights issues arising directly from this Report. 5. CONSULTATION The Head of Finance and the Chief Constable, Tayside Police have been consulted in the preparation of this Report. -

The ruin is completely surrounded by lairs. The lairs are in lines on a north / south axis as is the norm for a Scottish Kirkyard, making the stones face east / west. The stones are identified by one or two letters followed by a 2 digit number. The letter(s) identify the row, while the numbers identify the stones counting southwards from the north end of the row. The single letter is used in the south west section, while the two letters beginning E are for the south east section. The two letters the same are for the extension at the northern half of the churchyard. This method of identification is for this publication only. All dates used in this text are written in day number, then months written in full, followed by the years in four digits. -

AGENDA ITEM NO 5 REPORT NO 244/16 ANGUS COUNCIL DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT REVIEW COMMITTEE – 15 JUNE 2016 LAND AT MAINS OF KIRKBUDDO REPORT BY THE HEAD OF LEGAL AND DEMOCRATIC SERVICES ABSTRACT: The Committee is asked to consider an application for a Review of the decision taken by the Planning Authority in respect of the refusal of planning permission in principle for erection of a dwellinghouse (re-application), application No 16/00114/PPPL, at Land at Mains of Kirkbuddo. 1. RECOMMENDATIONS It is recommended that the Committee:- (i) review the case submitted by the Planning Authority (Appendix 1); and (ii) review the case submitted by the Applicant (Appendix 2). 2. ALIGNMENT TO THE ANGUS COMMUNITY PLAN/SINGLE OUTCOME AGREEMENT/CORPORATE PLAN This Report contributes to the following local outcomes contained within the Angus Community Plan and Single Outcome Agreement 2013-2016: • Our communities are developed in a sustainable manner • Our natural and built environment is protected and enjoyed 3. CURRENT POSITION The Development Management Review Committee is required to determine if they have sufficient information from the Applicant and the Planning Authority to review the case. Members may also wish to inspect the site before full consideration of the Appeal. 4. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS There are no financial implications arising directly from the recommendations in the Report. 5. CONSULTATION In accordance with Standing Order 48(4), this Report falls within an approved category that has been confirmed as exempt from the consultation process. South Lodge Inverarity 4) CORRESPONDENCE – Elizabeth had received correspondence from Margo Williamson, Returning Officer at Angus Council regarding the Statutory Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places. 5) TREASURER’S REPORT Balance £4250.40 6) INFRASTRUCTURE Secretary advised that she had contacted Mr Hill at Roads Department regarding two lights immediately after the 20mph sign going east near the entrance to Mill of Inverarity Farm which are still not working. RP to investigate it especially as this particular part of the road has bends which are quite dangerous in the dark both for pedestrians and traffic.
