NORTHERN VERMONT RESTAURANT/DINING The Lakeview House Restaurant South Burlington

Overlooking the beautiful Lake Champlain and the Adirondack mountains beyond, The Big House at Lakeview farm was built by Lemuel S. Drew in the mid 1800s. This historic Victorian house was part of a 266 acre farm. Much of the interior decor is reminiscent of the past with a nod to the rustic settings found throughout Vermont, while catering to the modern tastes of our clientele.

Our kitchen’s present day philosophy takes a note from the past. We use the freshest ingredients from as many local farmers as best we can while still maintaining a great price for our guest. One way we accomplish both of these is by going back to our roots by being our own farmer. Come in and enjoy a sunny afternoon on our patio and listen to some music while our chef picks fresh vegetables and spices from our adjacent garden to prepare in your meal. All of our food is prepared in house by our kitchen from scratch.

It is in this spirit that we welcome your groups for lunch or dinner to our Big House. 

STATE HISTORIC SITE Hubbardton Battlefield State Historic Site Hubbardton A Revolutionary War Site On July 7, 1777, the only battle of the Revolution to take place in Vermont was waged in the hills of Hubbardton. Here, the British met American resistance for the first time and an American rear guard helped to stem the tide of General Burgoyne’s Northern Campaign. Both sides suffered losses. The successful action of the American rebels at Hubbardton set the stage for the major British defeat at Saratoga. The site’s Visitor Center, features an interpretive exhibit and a narrated fiberoptic map. Walking trails on the scenic hilltop battlefield include interpretive signs that outline strategic points in the engagement. STATE HISTORIC SITE President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site, Plymouth Plymouth Notch Historic District

One of the best preserved presidential birthplaces in the nation, Plymouth Notch is virtually unchanged since the early 1900s. This rural Vermont village includes the homes of Calvin Coolidge’s family and neighbors, a general store, church, cheese factory and the 1924 Summer White House office. Calvin Coolidge was born here in 1872 and was sworn in as our 30th president in the family homestead in 1923. He is buried in the town cemetery with seven generations of his family. Thirteen buildings are open to the public, as are the surrounding grounds and gardens.

A major interactive, multimedia permanent exhibition in the new Coolidge Museum & Education Center uses Coolidge’s own words, objects from his life and period newsreels to tell the story of how a boy from rural Plymouth Notch became President of the United States.

Brattleboro Vermont Welcome to Brattleboro, Vermont – named bySmithsonian Magazine #11 of the 20 Best Small Towns in America!* As Smithsonian put it: We think any best place worth traveling to should have one quality above others: Culture. In naming the “Best Towns in America” Smithsonian Magazine sought small communities with high concentrations of museums, historic sites, botanic gardens, resident orchestras, art galleries and other cultural assets common to big cities– Reinforcing the truth that big cities and grand institutions per se don't produce creative works; individuals do. And being reminded of that is fun. So is Brattleboro – fun and much, much more! A small town with everything a big city has – good people living in a combination edgy and bucolic, uniquely Vermont setting. Mother Earth News in 2008 selected Brattleboro one of “8 Great Places You’ve Never Heard Of,” citing our “vintage Vermont” qualities and “artsy, intellectual” character. We invite you to include the “One and Only” Brattleboro in your motor coaching plans. Catch our vibe in our historic downtown on the banks of the Connecticut River. But beware: Come for a day and you may come back for a lifetime!

Group Policy & Rates: Groups always welcome. Coaches can disengage passengers in a lot near the Transportation Center — convenient to downtown. Handicappedaccessible public restrooms are located at The River Garden at the intersection of Main and High Streets smack in the center of downtown.

STATE HISTORIC SITE Bennington Monument State Historic Site Bennington

A Revolutionary War Site In August of 1777, General John Stark, aided by the Green Mountain Boys, denied British troops access to supplies stored in Bennington, Vermont, by defeating them in a battle just over the border in New York State. A pivotal event in the American Revolution, the “Battle of Bennington” left British forces woefully unprepared for the later Battle of Saratoga.

Today, the spectacular 306 foot Bennington Monument stands at the site of the military storehouse. Visitors can take an elevator to the observation floor to view vistas of rolling hills and valleys in the three states. The beautifully landscaped grounds feature additional monuments and interpretive signage. Amenities include a wonderful shop, picnic tables and accessible restrooms.
