3rd Quarter 2015 Holy Family PTO Newsletter Message from the PTO President Upcoming Events: Leanne Hartle  February 27 – Early Dismissal at 11:40 We are well into the third quarter, and the PTO is beginning to plan (ASC Open) for next school year. We need your help! The 2014-2015 PTO Parent Survey is now available for all of our school families to share  February 28 – PTO Survey closes their opinions about the PTO sponsored events – social, , volunteer, and fundraising. We ask that you take the time to provide  March 3 – ITBS Testing begins in your feedback. It is appreciated greatly and used in planning for the grades 2-8 upcoming school year. Information garnered from last year’s survey changed our lunch offerings from a two to a five-day lunch service.  March 6 – AR Points are due

In anticipation of next year, we invite all parents and guardians to  March 9 – Away game vs. thoughtfully consider joining the 2015-2016 PTO Board, as we will Beach at Wingate Park have three positions open. In March, more information will be Girls at 3:00, Boys at 4:30 distributed and posted on the school website regarding how you can become involved. The Mega Money Raffle on February 7th was an exciting event! Two  March 18 school families, the Rowans and the Kayes, won the $10,000 grand - Modern Woodmen Level II Speech prizes! The evening was enhanced by the return of the live auction Contest that included class art projects, principal and vice-principal for the day, a Disney on Ice suite, and tickets to Orlando attractions. A very - Away Softball game vs Palmer at special “Thank You” to Kelly Gray and Melinda Leahy who spent Davis Fields countless hours coordinating our annual fundraiser. The evening Girls at 3:30, Boys at 5:00 would not have been possible without them. Additionally, we would  March 20 like to thank Deanna Mohler, Maga Morena, Kelly, and Melinda for the amazing artwork, and Rebecca Helquist for a beautifully - Report Cards go home decorated venue. We appreciate all of our families who participated in ticket sales! We are grateful to our friends, family members, and - Home Softball game vs Assumption Girls at 3:30, Boys at 5:00 parishioners for supporting our school by purchasing tickets.

When you purchase gift cards through the PTO, you receive credit towards your Annual Fee that is due in May. Gift Card order forms can be found in your Friday Folder or you can stop by the school office and purchase from some of the favorite gift cards we keep in stock. Year to date, families have earned $1948 towards their annual fees. Be on the lookout for our next contest in March!

Holy Family Sports The HFCS and Soccer teams ended their seasons in late January. Congratulations to both teams for their winning records! The Volleyball team ended with a 10-8 record. The soccer team was undefeated throughout the entire

16 game season, including pre-season, with 12 wins and 4 ties. The team won the League Championship (co-champions with San Jose), as well as the Tournament Championship. They won 3 play-off games scoring 15 goals.

The HFCS boys’ and girls’ softball teams have been formed and the season will be under way soon. The first regular season games are scheduled for Monday, March 9 away against Beach at Wingate Park.

The annual sports banquet will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Deermeadows Baptist. All students who were members of at least one competitive sports team during the current school year will be invited. Each team's coach recognizes all team members and special awards are announced during the program. Volunteers are needed to assist with planning and organizing this year's sports banquet. Volunteer Information The PTO would like to express sincere appreciation to the families that have donated their time and energy to Holy Family and turned in their Service Hours Log Form. If you have volunteered at Holy Family and have not turned in your volunteer log form, please download the form from the HF website and start adding up your hours. You can e-mail your completed form to [email protected] or turn in a printed copy to the PTO box located in the school office. This form needs to be completed in order for your hours to be recorded (the volunteer check-in/check-out computer in the front office does not keep track of your volunteer hours). Please remember that all families are required to complete a minimum of 20 service hours each school year or you will be billed for the hours not completed.

If you are in need of Volunteer hours we have a few opportunities for you! We still need help with lunch service. Please consider helping with this activity! Mega Money Raffle Thank you to everyone for participating in the Mega Money Raffle. It was a great night at Deerwood Country Club with many people coming away as winners. But the biggest winner was Holy Family Catholic School with the money raised that will benefit our children. Thank you to Kelly Gray and Melinda Leahy for doing such a fantastic job in organizing the event. Additionally, we would like to thank Deanna Mohler, Maga Morena, Kelly, and Melinda for the artwork, and Rebecca Helquist for the amazing decorations.

Social Events at Holy Family The PTO began Catholic Schools Week with a Teacher Appreciation breakfast hosted by Maga

Moreno, Laura Liantonio, Melinda Leahy and Kelly Gray. Thank you to them for helping our teachers jump-start their day with a fabulous breakfast treat!

Grandparents’ Day wrapped up a wonderful Catholic School's Week. We had approximately 175 Grandparents join us for a breakfast event hosted by Stacy Dominger and her amazing committee. Mrs. Dineen spoke to our grandparents and welcomed them before Mass. After Mass, grandparents were able to visit classrooms. The 5th graders also had their state projects on display for all to see. A special thank you to Stacy and all the volunteers that helped to make this day a success.

Mardi Gras was celebrated on February 17 (Fat Tuesday). The students enjoyed King Cake during their lunch. Thank you to Kris Trotter for ordering and delivering the cakes to all the students!

The Mother and Son bowling event will take place on March 7, from 5:00-7:30 at Bowl America located at 10333 San Jose Blvd. The cost is $15 each and includes two games, shoe rental, two slices of pizza and soda for each participant.

The spring label contest will be coming up soon! We collected 18,751 labels from the fall label contest. This was approx. 6,000 more than we collected in the last contest.
