February 16, 2021 • CANADIAN STAMP NEWS • www.canadianstampnews.ca 11 SUPER SPECIALS LXXII IMPERFORATE COIL STAMP ERRORS Coil stamps were issued in rolls of 500 from the fi rst Admiral Series right through to the 5¢ Centennial Issue in 1967. This was to change however. When the 6¢ orange Centennial Issue was released, the size of the roll was reduced to 100 stamps, a more convenient size for the public. The rolls of 100 were shipped to post offi ces in ‘tubes’ of 1000, each comprised of ten rolls of 100, which could be snapped off as needed. Although coils had been printed without any major error for decades, it wasn’t long before imperforates were found on the 6¢ orange Centennials. Even more interesti ng, the error was found on only 13 stamps (just 6 pairs) in a roll of 100 stamps. The offi cial explanati on was that a momentary blink in power supply causes such an error. Twenty specials featuring these scarce imperforate errors follow. Prices are very competi ti ve and include shipping and taxes. Supply is limited so please order now.
