Rules & Regulations

1. The organization of the European Draughts Championship 2020 has been allotted by the EDC to the IZMIR 64-100 INTERNATIONAL DRAUGHTS ASSOCIATION (here following only called “Turkish Organization”) and will take place from Monday, October 5th till Tuesday, October 13th(arrival on 4th and departure on 14th ).

5. Participants

Tournament is open for each European player who accepts these rules & regulations. Inscription of the player must be made his/her National Draughts Federation.

8. System of competitions:

European Championship – classic games: Þ Game rate: 1h 20’ + 1’ Þ Tournament will be played in Swiss system (on Solkoff Truncated), 9 rounds.

European Championship Rapid: Þ Game rate: 15’ + 5” Þ Tournament will be played in Swiss system, 9 rounds. Þ Only in case of all criteria of challengers for 1st 3 places will be equal, a tie break should be played (2 games 5’+3” and if the tie break ends in a draw, then GL tie break with 3’+2” will be played). If more than two players need to play tie break than one game 5’+3” will be played during the tie break tournament. Þ All rules concerning rapid games and rights – duties of players/referees described in FMJD annexes are valid.

European Championship Blitz: Þ Game rate: 5’ + 3” Þ Tournament is planned to be played (depend on number of participants) with qualifications (2-4 groups depend on number of participants) followed by round- robin finals (A, B,...) with 12 players each. Þ Only in case of all criteria of challengers for 1st 3 places will be equal, a tie break should be played (2 games 5’+3” and if the tie break ends in a draw, than GL tie break with 3’+2” will be played). If more than two players need to play tie break than one game 3’+2” will be played during the tie break tournament. Þ All rules concerning rapid games and rights – duties of players/referees described in FMJD annexes are valid.

General Rules for all European Championships: Þ Final classification according FMJD Annex-III. Þ In case of all criteria of challengers for 1st 3 places will be equal; a tie break should be played with 2 blitz games followed by superblitz if necessary. Þ All rules concerning games and rights – duties of players/referees described in FMJD annexes are valid.

9. National teams’ classification. (a) Before the tournament each federation announced up to 5 players as a member of national team (4 for women). (b) Team classification will be settled up based on results of 3 best members (2 for women) of national team: Þ Lowest sum of places Þ if equal – highest sum of points Þ if equal – higher place of best team player decides (c) For teams with less than 3 (2 for women) players N+1 to the score will be added for absent players, where N=number of participants in the tournament.

10. Competition fees shall be transferred to EDC bank account: (a) European Championship Classic Entrance fee is 100 € for the first 3 players from the federation. If more players, from the 4th or more 200 € for each one.

(b) European Championship Rapid and Blitz Participation fee is 40€ with 20€ for youth aged up to 19. (each tournament).

(c) Paying fees it is a National federation duty, so amount of fee from Federations will be counted not based on player present in Antalya but based on number of players in applications. Without full participation fee paid by a federation, it is impossible for any player from that federation to play. In case of extraordinary situation, a federation should inform EDC in written about changes. Only in this case fee for not-coming players can be reduced:

st Þ 50% if resignation before October 1 Þ 0% if resignation after October 1st (it means that it should be paid fully)

Notice that this is a separate FMJD account for EDC. Please, do not transfer money to FMJD standard account or by FMJD payment system.

Only in extraordinary cases, on which the EDC has been informed and had accepted in advance by a written e-mail, it’s possible for a player to pay in cash before opening ceremony to Volkan ÇETİN / İbrahim İSMAYİLOV with an extra fee of 10€ per player per tournament.

11. Accommodation

th th (a) Official package: from the supper October 4 till breakfast October 14 (2 persons rooms), breakfast, dinner, supper. Hotel is available from 12:00 4th until 12:00 14th. Price 50 EUR/ day per one person in a double room should be transferred to the hotels account. (b) The Turkish Organization will pay the costs for 1 male and 1 female player in case of the National Federation is a member of FMJD, has no debts and has organized and reported the national championship on 2018 and 2019. The Turkish Organization must inform the EDC which of their players use this special package.

(c) Single rooms at free package is possible with at the price 75 EUR/day (in order to get a single room contact the organizer Volkan ÇETİN ([email protected]) İbrahim İSMAYİLOV ([email protected]) ; For other players/coaches and accompanying persons, official package costs is also 500 EUR (50 EUR x 10 nights) per person in a double room.

(d) Additional days before/after the event costs at the same price of the official package: 50 EUR/day per person in double room, 75 EUR/day per person in single room (with breakfast, lunch, dinner).

12. Application by national federations to the EDC office: [email protected] with a deadline September 5th. For each inscription from the 6th September onwards, will be can be applied and extra fee (10 €) to pay in cash before the start of the championship.

* The total prize money of the European Championships Rapid and Blitz (Men+Women) must be the 50% of inscription fees, with at least 600 €.

15. Any protest to Jury d'Appel should be given in written form (in English) to the main referee not later than 10 minutes after the game. Each protest is valid only after paying a deposit of 100 euro. The deposit will be returned only if a protest will be accepted.

17. Player who was not present during closing ceremony – will not receive cash prizes.

18. In the case of something not being clear in the FMJD regulations or in this regulation, the decision will be made by the main referee in consultation with the organization and the FMJD tournament director.
