Email – [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] Website: www.samparc-india.org ANNUAL REPORT SAMPARC GRAMIN VIDHYA VIKAS KENDRA, BHAMBARDE 2009- 2010 The Bhambarde school and hostel for the under privileged children of 17 surrounding remote tribal and hilly villages was started by SAMPARC. This is the 1st school and education center of the area and after counseling the parents SAMPARC made it possible to send children to the school. The children are mostly from poor background and belong to schedule caste, schedule tribe, OBC and Maratha community. They depend on their relatives for their livelihood and parents send their children for labour work. The parents were encouraged to send their children from age group 16-19 yrs and continue their education at least until 10th standard as SAMPARC was providing free education for students living in the hostel. The school provides a good platform for various extracurricular and cultural activities too. The school bagged many District & Taluka Level Awards & Medals for special performance in sports. Coaching in sports is provided to many enthusiastic youngsters in a 3-acre wide specially prepared sports ground. SAMPARC Page 1 The Education Department of the State Government has recognised this school as the “Best School in Mulshi Taluka of the year 2005”. The school has 8 well-furnished classrooms, kitchen-cum-dining hall, toilets, laboratory, library and computer room, a huge playground for the students. The project has developed a water reservoir /check dam on 1.5 acres of land and 5 acres of land is brought under agriculture cultivation. There is a medical centre in the hostel campus, equipped with primary medical facilities. A residential doctor runs the medical centre, provides treatment to the patients, conducts health awareness programs for 17 villages surrounding Bhambarde centre. Like any other schools from cities, this school also is well-equipped with qualified Headmaster, trained teachers, office staff, hostel in-charge, helpers, doctor & other staff. It provides a very serene, congenial & pollution-free atmosphere for the stay and study of children. In an attempt to educate all the children at least upto SSC level, SAMPARC is providing school and hostel facilities for the poor tribal children from these remote places. SAMPARC is running this project with its own resources right from its inception. Today there are 145 students in the hostel and about 226 students who are studying at Bhambarde School. We are in need of funds for running the hostel as the entire responsibility of the hostel is on SAMPARC. ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE YEAR This year the students of the school won the 1st prize in Science Exhibition with the topic ‘Significance of Ellipse at Taluka Level, 3rd prize at the district level and also participated at state level competitions under the able guidance of Shri Kharat and Shri Somwanshi. SAMPARC Page 2 The academic result of the school has been excellent. Students from 5th to 8th std have successfully passed showing 100% results, while 2 students failed in 9th std and 1 students failed in SSC examination. The March SSC results witnessed 97.14 % result in which Ghanshyam Kumbhar scored 82.82%, Tejas Washiwale scored 75.40%, Vikas Mene scored 73.09%. At the sports competition at district level, this year too the students performed excellently in kho-kho, kabaddi, and many outdoor games. Many external exams like drawing exam, Hindi language examination, were conducted and children appeared for all such examinations. In order to celebrate the completion of 10 years of SAMPARC Gramin Vidya Vikas Kendra, Bhambarde, a special edition of SAMPARC magazine was published. During the Annual Gathering a cultural program was organised and the historic play ‘Jaanata Raja’ was staged which the children thoroughly enjoyed. The occasion was graced by Hon. Mrs Savitatai Dagade, Chairman Zilla Parishad, along with Shri Kawatesaheb, Social Welfare Dept officer, Shri Dattatray Surve, Member Panchayat Samiti- Paud, Shri Nandkumar Walunj, Local Committee member, Shri Ganpat Washiwale – Social Worker, Shri Jayram Dighe, Sarpanch Bhambarde, Shri G.P.Dhakane, Program Advisor SAMPARC, and Shri Amitkumar Banerjee, Mrs Ratna Banerjee and all children and their parents. The agriculture department is being taken care by 2 BSc graduates working as Coordinators & 2 assistants and 1 Peon. The overall health of the children is being taken care by Dr. Bhujbal. Mrs.Lucilla Monti And Dr.Bhole Have Always Been The Inspiration For Development Of Bhambarde Project. SAMPARC Page 3 CASE STUDY: Tejas Washiwale: Tejas Washiwale was admitted in 2007-08 in SAMPARC hostel and comes from a very poor background. When he was admitted, he had many bad habits, would always miss his classes and had no interest in studies. He behaved very arrogantly and would not obey his elders. Many complaints were received about his ill-manners and violation of school rules. He was promoted to 9th std and there were regular counseling sessions by the teachers. He was motivated and encouraged for studies, being a brilliant boy he started grasping things well and started developing interest in classes. Gradually he started participating in different activities like debate, cultural programs and sports. In his SSC he scored 75% and stood 2nd in the school. He scored very good marks and won the 3rd prize in his class. He has opted to study Engineering. SAMPARC is thankful to Shri Rajesh Prajapati from Arhatic Yogashram Nive for his continuous help to the children and also Shri Kawate saheb, Social Welfare Dept for his guidance. SCIENCE EXHIBITION: This year SAMPARC arranged visit of our children to TIFR - Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. Science teachers and some students of 9th and 10th standard visited this centre to explore the world of science. This year the school students participated in Science exhibition and their topic ‘Importance of Ellipse’. They referred various books and projected the importance of the ellipse. The children answered all the questions of examiner and won the 1st prize at the taluka level. This was the first success of the school in science exhibition. At the district level in Narayangaon also we received good response to this project. Here they won 3rd rank in district level and were selected for state level exhibition. At the state level in Nandurbar also they received good response. Tejas Washiwale, Ghanashyam Kumbhar and Tushar Kapse put in a lot of hard work under the guidance of Shri Kailas Kharat. SAMPARC Page 4 FUTURE PLANNING AND REQUIREMENTS: o To start a sports education program for rural students. o Proposal for grant for the students of SAMPARC hostel for 24 tribal children was submitted which was approved by the Government of Maharashtra, however the actual grant is expected to be received. Peshwas went on conquering places as far as Panipat and Atak and extending the boundaries of the kingdom beyond Chambal river in North India. This finest palace of the time (1730-1818) but now in dilapidated condition is in the heart of the Pune city. This palace as it finally stood was a seven-storeyed building with four large and several small courts some of which were named as Ganapati Rang Mahal, Nach Diwankhana, Arse Maltal, Hastidanti Mahal. Today, the remains (enclosure, plinths and the surrounding wall) are mute witnesses of the past Maratha glory.
