Continuous improvement process Ingeo 2005 Ingeo 2009 Ingeo target • THE SYSTEM CAN WORK!!

The Boeing Classic was striving for zero waste. - Over three days, +65,000 spectators watched PGA golfers at Snoqualmie Ridge. - Cedar Grove Ingeo™ and other compostable based food service packaging was used exclusively for all food service. - 14 receptacles were built and placed throughout the golf course. - The results are stunning!

92% of the overall volume of waste was either recycled or composted.

6 compost hauls and 7 recycling hauls to 1 garbage haul! With Cedar Grove Packaging (“brown”) line, the public had an easy to identify, end of life solution for package and food waste. Recognition to Bunzl Seattle (R3 Seattle), Cedar Grove and Ingeo™ based converting food service partners for this success! A Credible Closed Loop Solution Exists In Seattle…

Plants Portable and Organic In-Vessel Composting • There is no composter near me!

• Not any more:

– Portable Composters • GreenGood (CA) – Food waste processors uses natural decomposition process – Completely eliminate solid and liquid food wastes – Add waste items any time, any day – Remove compost monthly – Organic In-Vessel Composting • B W Organics, Inc. (TX) – Waste is retained on-farm until composted, eliminating the need to transport raw waste, on highways to a composting yard – Composting can be completed rapidly, resulting in product stabilization/sanitation in 3-6 days. – While in the composter, raw wastes are isolated from the environment until the composting process is complete. – The raw waste loses all offensive odors within 24 hours of composter start-up. – In-vessel composting can maintain a rapid decomposition process year-round regardless of the external ambient conditions.

And others too! The Complete EOL Value Proposition

• Ingeo™ uniquely offers after use options which: – Offers a true cradle-to-cradle, zero waste solution – Results in a superior LCA – Makes economic business sense --- to 3rd parties

• The next couple of years is all about infrastructure – Companies such as BioCor and Galactic have defined aggressive growth plans… • Will similar models emerge in other regions? • Will a global feedstock recovery infrastructure emerge, driven by demands for lactic acid? – How will the drive to remove food residuals from Landfill translate into growing composting infrastructure? • Composting – municipality based; closed venue portable or in-vessel; “waste to energy to compost” ventures - will all continue to grow What is BioCor?

BioCor is a for profit company that changes Conventional Wisdom for recycling PLA: – Buy PLA from recyclers • Post-consumer PLA collected by Recyclers • Post Industrial scrap PLA – BioCor is ‘packaging agnostic’ – Assist the supply chain/recycling industry develop methods to recycle a package not made of 1, 2, tin, Aluminum, glass, or . – Execute a roadmap to handle innovative packaging that, presents a compelling alternative to traditional packaging materials. – www.biocor.com (Mike Centers) Harvest Power • A new “waste to energy to compost” approach that presents an advantage for • Harvest Power “organic recycling” is a new platform for Vancouver, BC Canada (visit www.harvestpower.com) • Specifc to packaging, there’s an opportunity to create differentiation using Ingeo™ in food serviceware as it provides: – Superior carbon footprint (Renewable Based - Made From Plants) – Options to be tied into food waste diversion issues that avoid landfill • Landfill is the only option for non-bio based food serviceware contaminated with food waste – As earlier noted: Demonstrated success by partners and composters

• Other end of life options exist too! – BIOCOR – Portable and Organic In-Vessel Composters – Organic Recycling (i.e. Harvest Power)

• NatureWorks LLC and its strategic partners provide food serviceware packaging and End Of Life options to begin your journey! – The new question is: • How can we working together collectively address Ingeo™ compostable packaging and food waste end of life solutions? Expanding Products & Applications NatureWorks LLC & Global Converting Partners
