Introduction and apologies. Apologies from Diana Pound (DP) 2. Minutes of the Previous Meeting (dated 15 Dec 2014). Approved. 3. Matters arising from the minutes of the previous meeting. a. TRO. The TRO will be put to South Chichester CLC for approval on 10th March (Note dated 11 March – it was not discussed by the CLC). b. Quick Fix. During a visit to the area, the WSCC representative stated that it was pointless replacing roadside dollies as they simply got knocked down. This response was not favourably met by the Group. Nothing further had been heard of this offer and it is assumed that it is now closed. 4. Genisis. Krts Ottery reported that the 5 step approach had been abandoned and, as of that day (11 Feb) a new system was going live. Unfortunately circumstances had precluded him being briefed but full details would be found on the Operation Crackdown website.. He confirmed that SIDs were still available (though attendees questioned their usefulness) and SIDs were the only equipment authorised in 20mph areas. Collection should be from police stations. Users of Genisis would need to register as for SIDs and training would be needed. It was agreed that it was simple equipment but there was a technique to its use which would quickly come with practice. Bookings for Genisis can be made online for a maximum of two days. Questions were asked about the letters dispatched by police to those caught speeding; it would appear that parishes had different results. Loxwood reps asked if they could have more roadside sites; such request should be forwarded to Kris Ottery though PCSOs should normally be asked to action. The following questions were asked and answers will be forwarded: Are yellow jackets issued with the kit? Will there be more Genisis? Can cameras be made available to photograph speeding vehicles? Are 30mph signs legal if they do not have a red ring on them? Ch Insp Kris Ottery conformed that the police fully supported the use of Genisis by local volunteers.
