Two Ufc Champions on Fs1 Analyst Desk for Fs1 Ufc Fight Night: Bermudez Vs FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: John Stouffer Monday, Jan. 30, 2017 [email protected] TWO UFC CHAMPIONS ON FS1 ANALYST DESK FOR FS1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT: BERMUDEZ VS. THE KOREAN ZOMBIE UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Cormier and Welterweight Champion Woodley Serve as Desk Analysts LOS ANGELES – The night before Super Bowl LI on FOX, Houston heats up with an exciting UFC FIGHT NIGHT: BERMUDEZ VS. THE KOREAN ZOMBIE live on FS1 and FOX Deportes on Saturday, Feb. 4 (10:00 PM ET) live from the Toyota Center. UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier (@DC_MMA) and welterweight champion Tyron Woodley (@TWooodley) work as desk analysts with host Karyn Bryant (@KarynBryant) for the FS1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT PREFIGHT and POSTFIGHT SHOWS from FOX Sports’ Super Bowl Week set live at Discovery Green in downtown Houston. Reporter Megan Olivi (@MeganOlivi) interviews fighters. Retired middleweight Brian Stann (@BrianStann) joins blow-by-blow announcer Jon Anik (@Jon_Anik) to call the fights live on FS1, while UFC bantamweight Erik "Goyito" Perez (@Goyito_Perez) and Victor Davila (@mastervic10) are the Spanish language broadcast team on FOX Deportes. FS1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT: BERMUDEZ VS. THE KOREAN ZOMBIE is headlined by the return of fan-favorite “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung (13-4), in his first bout since completing two years of military service, against the No. 9-ranked featherweight Dennis Bermudez (17-5). FOX UFC analyst Dominick Cruz believes this headliner will be an epic showdown because both of these fighters have unstoppable attitudes. “Talk about people who are game, people who have heart, and people who are in this no matter what – no matter how many times you cut them, drop them or hurt them,” he says. “Both of these guys bring that to the table. Bermudez has been through it all, gets dropped in fights and still gets back up and finishes people. Then you’ve got The Korean Zombie, who’s known for wars in the Octagon. I can’t wait to watch these guys throw down.” Watch a preview of the fight from last Saturday’s FS1 UFC FIGHT NIGHT POSTFIGHT SHOW here. Also on Saturday night, Mexican phenom and No. 12-ranked Alexa Grasso (9-0) takes on strawweight veteran Felice Herrig (11-6) in an explosive co-main event. Anthony Hamilton (15-6) and Marcel Fortuna (8-1) collide in a heavyweight battle. The No. 5-ranked strawweight Jessica Andrade (15-5) and Angela Hill (6-2) set the tone in the main card opener. The two-hour UFC FIGHT NIGHT PRELIMS on FS1 begin at 8:00 PM ET and feature four bouts. Adam Milstead (8-1) faces Curtis Blaydes (6-1) in a heavyweight fight. Featherweights Chas Skelly (16-2) and Chris Gruetzemacher (13-1) tangle, while bantamweights Ricardo Ramos (9-1) and Michinori Tanaka (11-2) lock horns. Matthews, University of Brighton, UK Abstract Recent growth in the media visibility of female combat sport athletes has offered a compelling site for research on gender and sport media, as women in deeply masculinized sports have been increasingly placed in the public spotlight. While scholars in the Anglophone West have offered analyses of the media framing of this phenomenon, little work has been done outside these cultural contexts. Thus, in this paper we offer a qualitative exploration of how Joanna Jędrzejczyk, a Polish champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has been represented in Polish media. Our findings reveal a relatively de-gendered, widely celebratory account, primarily framed by nationalistic discourse – findings we ascribe to both the particularities of the sport of mixed martial arts as well as the historic nature of Jędrzejczyk’s success.
