  • Mclaren-Honda Prepares for 2015: Laying the Foundations for Future Domination
McLaren-Honda prepares for 2015: laying the foundations for future domination McLaren-Honda is delighted to announce its new driver line-up for 2015: Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button. Kevin Magnussen will remain an important part of the team, as test and reserve driver. All three men will play crucial roles in re-establishing the ascendancy of one of global sport’s most iconic unions, for McLaren and Honda have already formed one of the most dominant partnerships in motorsport history: Honda broke new ground in the 1980s by creating a turbocharged engine that was unparalleled in both its output and its efficiency, and, between 1988 and 1992, McLaren-Honda won eight world championships and 44 Grand Prix, and took 53 pole positions and set 30 fastest laps, all in just 80 Grand Prix. In 1988, the partnership created arguably the single most successful Formula 1 car of all time: the all-conquering McLaren-Honda MP4/4, which was driven to victory by Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost in an amazing 15 of the season’s 16 Grand Prix. The lure presented by those same goals has once again brought the legendary Japanese corporation back to the pinnacle of global motor racing; and, again, that company, Honda, is developing its revolutionary new turbocharged engine at its all-new purpose-built state-of-the-art motorsport facility in Sakura, Japan. It is against that backdrop that McLaren and Honda are now committing to rebuilding afresh the strongest possible partnership in Formula 1. The aforementioned Ayrton Senna, in the opinion of many the greatest driver in the history of our sport, won 30 of the 44 Grand Prix that McLaren and Honda annexed together between 1988 and 1992.

2020 SPANISH GRAND PRIX 13 - 16 August 2020 From The Stewards Document 22 To The Team Manager, Date 15 August 2020 Renault DP World F1 Team Time 14:21 The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, summoned (documents 18 and 19) and heard from the drivers and team representative, have considered the following matter and determine the following: No / Driver 31 - Esteban Ocon Competitor Renault DP World F1 Team Time 12:58 Session Practice 3 Fact Incident with car 20 approaching turn 4 Offence Alleged breach of Article 27.4 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations Decision No Further Action Reason The Stewards (i) heard from the driver of Car 31(Esteban Ocon) and the driver of Car 20 (Kevin Magnussen) and team representatives and (ii) have reviewed multiple angles of video evidence, radio calls to the drivers and telemetry data. Ocon was on an out lap having just exited the pits. Magnussen had just completed a timed lap. Magnussen passed Ocon going from turn 2 to turn 3 but then began to slow. On the straight, halfway between turn 3 and turn 4 Ocon swerved to avoid a slowing Magnussen and crashed against the wall. Discussing the incident with the drivers and examining the evidence, the Stewards determined that Magnussen lifted and slowed using ERS harvesting; there was no use of the brakes that contributed to the accident. This was confirmed with telemetry. Magnussen pulled gently off line, having been advised of following traffic on fast laps. At the same time Ocon was also moving to the right to let traffic by and was looking in his mirrors for the cars following.

  • 2020 Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, Sunday Renault DP World F1 Team Left Empty-Handed from the Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya
2020 Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, Sunday Renault DP World F1 Team left empty-handed from the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with Daniel Ricciardo eleventh and Esteban Ocon thirteenth in a largely uneventful Spanish Grand Prix. After disappointment in not making Q3 in qualifying yesterday both Daniel and Esteban lined up outside of the top ten and began Sunday’s race on identical strategies, starting on the Medium tyre. Despite a flying start, Daniel remained thirteenth by the end of lap one with Esteban dropping a place to sixteenth. Both drivers were on a planned one-stop strategy and began gaining positions as those ahead started to pit a third of the way through the race. Esteban passed Kimi Räikkönen and Kevin Magnussen on laps 20 and 28 with two slick overtakes at Turn 1. The Frenchman pitted on lap 34 for new Soft tyres with Daniel in a lap later for the same compound. It was a challenging second stint from there on, with blue flags for the leading trio of drivers meaning both Daniel and Esteban struggled to make any inroads towards the points paying positions. Daniel closed to within a second from tenth place and Esteban finished thirteenth. Daniel Ricciardo, started P13, finished P11: “It was tough today and certainly not where we want to be. At every race up until now, we’ve had at least one car in the points, so this is the first one without it. It was a pretty difficult race and making the one-stop work was difficult. Obviously, it’s a bit disappointing as we came here expecting much more, especially after two decent races last time out.
