Metaxas and Qureshi win 30th annual Zucker teacher award Since 1989, longtime Pico Rivera resident, Natalie Zucker, established an award program that gifted outstanding educators an award of 500 dollars; El Rancho High School since then has kept the annual tradition of awarding two teachers for displaying posi- tive teacher-student relationships, knowledge of content in their respective subject, innovation in the classroom, or professionalism such as punctuality, cooperation, assisting students and colleagues, and enhancing their program. To obtain this award a teacher must be nominated in order to qualify. Because of Zuckers ongoing generosity, the program is still in effect. This year the awards were gifted to two wonderful teachers, Mrs. Metaxas, who teaches English and Literature , and Mrs., Qureshi, who teachers U.S. Government and Politics.

Last issue I stated that there would be an announcement concern- ing the advice column, now is the time to make that announcement. I am truly grate- ful to have carried the torch for this column, answering all of your questions (dating or not), and just offering advice in general were both extremely rewarding experi- ences. If at one point during any of these issues my advice was beneficial to someone, then I say I did a pretty good job. Back to the announcement. As I mentioned carry- ing the torch of advice, it’s now time to pass this torch onto its next carrier. I pass this advice column onto Alejandro Melchor, a current junior, I know he’ll do a great job. Again, thank you all for not booting me out of this position (although you didn’t re- ally have a choice). As a final send off, I’d like to offer one more piece of advice: Aim to live your life without regret!
