The ‘fire boundary’ is still marked today by small lights in the shape of red flames embedded in the pavement. The people of Rotterdam were pro­active and hands­on; reconstruction efforts started just two weeks after the war ended. The city had the courage to make a radical break with the past, opting for spacious design and modern architecture. Light, air and space were the watchwords. In the decades that followed, Rotterdam continued its commitment to ground­breaking architecture, creating the contemporary image the city has today. That drive for innovation is still characteristic of Rotterdam’s own. De aanvrager heeft een analytisch en goed onderbouwd plan geformuleerd dat vertrouwen wekt. Het museum heeft een goede positie in het culturele veld en in de stad. Het is zich bewust van zijn nichepositie en biedt tegelijkertijd een hoge belevingswaarde. Geadviseerd subsidiebedrag De Raad adviseert de gevraagde subsidie van € 120.000 toe te kennen omdat het plan van goede kwaliteit is, de bedrijfsvoering professioneel en het aandeel van de subsidie in de financieringsmix laag is. De Raad adviseert het deel van het gevraagde bedrag dat meer is dan de huidige subsidie te koppelen aan de uitwerking van de plannen voor de buitenprogrammering. Samenvatting van de aanvraag geschreven door de instelling Het Chabot Museum als museum voor internationaal expressionisme bevindt zich in een fase van groei op alle terreinen. Sinds 2018 is het bezoekersaantal bijna verdubbeld van 12.500 naar 22.000 bezoekers per jaar in 2019. Educatie en cultuuronderwijs nemen een centrale plaats in en dragen bij aan een enorme toename in bereik. De rondleidingen die in weekenden worden aangeboden in de Van Nellefabriek UNESCO Werelderfgoed samen met Urban Guides, in combinatie met gratis busvervoer en bezoek aan het Chabot Museum (en Huis Sonneveld) zijn opgeschaald naar 6 en incidenteel naar 12 per weekend. Daarnaast is door langlopende tentoonstellingen met investering in PR en (content)marketing, waaronder de tentoonstellingen in kader van ‘Boijmans bij de buren’, een toename van circa 4.000 bezoekers gerealiseerd. Projectbijdragen van de Stichting Droom en Daad hebben dit mogelijk gemaakt.

Het uiteindelijke doel was het opstellen van een kaart van Nederland met de belangrijkste wederopgebouwde en heringerichte gebieden van Nederland. De ge- schiedenis van architectuur en stedebouw tijdens de bezetting en wederopbouw van Nederland (1995) onder redactie van Koos Bosma en Cor Wagenaar. Tijdens het verkennend onderzoek door stagiaire Suzanne de Laat bleek dat diverse archieven niet bij elkaar aansloten, met betrekking tot oorlogsschade slecht ontsloten waren, verschillende cijfers hanteerden en niet altijd eenduidig waren.
