CHAIRMAN: Hon’ble Members, I refer with profound sorrow to the passing away of Shri Mohinder Singh Kalyan and Shri Khagen Das, former Members of this House. Shri Mohinder Singh Kalyan, passed away on the 18th of November, 2017, at the age of 85 years. Born in January, 1932, at Village Burj Hakima in Ludhiana District of Punjab, Shri Mohinder Singh was a journalist by profession. He was the owner and Editor of the newspaper 'Punjabi Rattan' and also served as the Chairman of the Punjab Small and Medium Newspapers Association. Shri Mohinder Singh was actively associated with several technical, educational, social, financial and medical institutions in ___________________________________________________ This Synopsis is not an authoritative record of the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha. 1 various capacities. He also served as the President of the Khet Mazdoor Union, Punjab; Vice-President of the Rashtriya Dalit Mazdoor Sangh and as the Director of the Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation. Shri Mohinder Singh Kalyan represented the State of Punjab in this House, from July, 1992 to July, 1998. In the passing away of Shri Mohinder Singh Kalyan, the country has lost an able parliamentarian and a dedicated social worker. Shri Khagen Das passed away on the 21st of January, 2018, at the age of 81 years. -

LOK SABHA ___ SYNOPSIS OF DEBATES (Proceedings other than Questions & Answers) ______ Monday, March 5, 2018 / Phalguna 14, 1939 (Saka) ______ OBITUARY REFERENCES HON'BLE SPEAKER: I have to inform the House about the sad demise of four former members, namely, Shri Rudolph Rodrigues, Shri Kamla Prasad Singh, Shri Khagen Das and Farida Topno. Shri Rudolph Rodrigues was a nominated member of the 6th Lok Sabha. Shri Rodrigues was associated with numerous social welfare and relief organizations and worked for the uplift of the poor and backward sections of the society. Shri Rudolph Rodrigues passed away on 9 December, 2017 in Kolkata at the age of 85. Shri Kamla Prasad Singh was a member of the 8th Lok Sabha representing the Jaunpur Parliamentary Constituency of Uttar Pradesh. He was a member of Committee on Government Assurances during 8th Lok Sabha. Earlier, Shri Singh was a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly for two terms from 1977 to 1984. Shri Kamla Prasad Singh passed away on 13 January, 2018 in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh at the age 83. Shri Khagen Das was a member of the 13th, 14th and 15th Lok Sabhas representing the Tripura West Parliamentary Constituency of Tripura. He was also a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1998 to 2002. Shri Das was a member of the Tripura Legislative Assembly for two terms and served as Cabinet Minister in the Government of Tripura from 1983 to 1988. An able Parliamentarian, Shri Khagen Das served as the Chairman of the Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture and was also a member of various parliamentary committees. -

A Journey of 50 years IMA, TRIPURA STATE BRANCH Dr. Satya Ranjan Debbarma Ex-President, IMA,Tripura State Branch, 1998 - 2008 It is pride for the members of I.M.A Tripura State Branch that we are celebrating the 50th Year “Golden Jubilee” of Indian Medical Association Tripura State Branch. It is a very remarkable mile stone in the history of I.M.A Tripura State Branch. I.M.A is the highest professional body in India. It has a glorious past history. It was formed in the year 1928, on 28th December under the Presidentship of Dr.G.V. Deshmukh of Mumbai as “All India Medical Association”. In the year 1930, the All India Medical Association was renamed as the “Indian Medical Association”. Over the period of 89 years, the I.M.A. while maintaining its glorious traditions has secured a place of pride with a total membership of 2,51,880 throughout the country. In the year 1951 in Tripura I.M.A. was launched as a local branch of I.M.A. Bengal with Dr. H.P Banerjee as President, Dr.Nandalal Chakraborty as Vice-President and Dr. Jatish Ch. Chakraborty as its Secretary. In the year 1957, under dynamic leadership of Dr.G.C. Chakraborty Tripura Local Branch was upgraded to Tripura Territorial Branch with Dr. Chakraborty as its President and Dr. Shukhendu Bhattacharjee as its Secretary and converted into Tripura State Branch in the year 1967 and the first All Tripura Medical conference was held at G.B. Hospital in the same year. Dr.Umesh Chakrabarty of Institute of Child Health, Calcutta was first Guest Speaker. -
