Sphingolipids and bioactive compounds in inflammation and cancer Lab

Dr. Dorit Avni Research Group Leader Sphingolipids and bioactive compounds in inflammation and cancer. [email protected] https://www.migal.org.il/en/node/6848

Academic Positions 2018-present, Head of sphingolipids and immune modules laboratory, MIGAL 2012-2016, Postdoctoral Fellow at Massey Cancer Center, VCU-MCV, USA.

Topics of research

1. Role of sphingolipids in health and disease 2. Natural bioactive compounds as immune regulators # Holistic approach - The use of nutritional and natural compounds as prevention or treatment for human disease and the regulation of the immune system # Identifying unmet disease and providing new platforms and solutions:COVID19, IBD, NAFLD, gastric ulcer, TNBC, liver cancer Our research comprises of both basic and translational programs Our laboratory specializes in in-vitro, ex-vivo and pre-clinical models and we take a transdisciplinary approach in our research using immunologic, genomic, and metabolomic approaches to study our open questions. Vascular signaling Lab

Dr. Andrea Szuchman-Sapir Research Group Leader Vascular signaling Lab. [email protected] https://www.migal.org.il/en/Andrea-Szuchman-Sapir

Academic Positions Ph.D. 2006, Technion Faculty of Medicine, Haifa, Israel. 2017- Head of the Laboratory of vascular signaling research, Migal-Galilee Research Institute 2017- Head of the IRB committee at the Tel-Hai College, Israel Since 2011: Faculty member, Tel-Hai academic college, Israel 2007-2009: Post-Doctoral at the Vascular Biology Group, ANZAC Research Institute, Concord Hospital, in collaboration with the Heart Research Institute, Sydney, Australia. Topics of research

Our research focuses on elucidation signal transduction mechanisms in the vessel wall, in particular in the endothelium, and on the generation of specific PUFA- derived metabolites that are potential endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factors (EDHFs). Current projects aimed to elucidate the role of cytochrome P450-derived specific lipid mediators in vascular homeostasis and dilation that affects blood pressure. In addition, the role of paraoxonase 1 in the endothelium signaling cascades that affect endothelium-dependent relaxation is been investigated Plant Evolutionary Genomics

Dr. Sariel Hübner Research Group Leader Plant Evolutionary Genomics Lab. [email protected] https://www.migal.org.il/en/node/3197

Academic Positions 2020 Head, Computational Biology Program, Tel-Hai College 2016 PI, Plant Evolutionary Genomics Lab, MIGAL – Galilee Research Institute. 2016 Senior Lecturer, Tel-Hai Academic Collage. 2016 H. Research Associate, UBC, Canada. 2016 PDF, UBC, Canada 2013 PhD, U. Haifa. Topics of research

In the lab we integrate experimental ecology, evolutionary theory and high-throughput genomics to study the genetics of speciation, adaptation and domestication in plants. Much of my work focuses on identifying the genetic changes that underlie the formation of new plant species or varieties.
