TENNESSEE NAWCA PROJECTS $13,724,048 $66,474,406 35 68,251 NAWCA GRANT AMOUNT TOTAL PARTNER CONTRIBUTION NUMBER OF PROJECTS TOTAL ACRES Tennessee currently has 35 NAWCA projects either completed or underway. These projects have conserved a total of 68,251acres of wildlife habitat. NAWCA funding of more than $13.7 million stimulated partner contributions of over $66.4 million. These figures do not include multi-state projects. WEST TENNESSEE WETLANDS ENHANCEMENT PROJECT In western Tennessee, six public and private partners have developed a landscape approach to conserve wetlands and adjacent uplands in the Lower Missisippi Alluvial Valley and the East Gulf Coastal Plain. The project will protect 866 acres, restore 951 acres, and enhance 624 acres on 14 tracts across several state wildlife management areas. This will begin to compensate for the loss of seasonally flooded wetlands due to agriculture and development in forested wetlands. It will enhance water quality, and reduce flooding and runoff, benefiting 20 priority species of migratory birds.
